It's coal fired. Number 2 was converted to gas a decade ago

One and two are next to each other. 3 is off to the west a little bit, separated from the other ones

Way more water boil advisories.

Water boils are mainly due to low system pressure / line breaks that allow contamination of treated potatable water distribution, not untreated river water issues.
River water is treated to clear federal drinking water regulations prior to distribution in the dilapidated water lines.

You are talking about Big Cajun 2 which has 3 units. Big Cajun 1 is a smaller, peaker plant that is gas and rarely runs.

With the news of this breaking, development is officially closed. Taxes may become some of the lowest in the state. There will be no reason to lure developers or rooftops for tax revenue. It will be an invisible revenue source.

You shut your mouth with that nonsense. They start all that and we end up with DLSD housing projects here

DR Horton is shite but they got money and lawyers. Also, not sure about AI but other big data facilities are noisy as frick. Careful what you wish for.

I know. I've worked on both.

There are maybe 12 people that live within 3 miles of that site.

There is zero coal at Big Cajun 1

New Roads maybe but the intersection where the bridge connects to 61 is already dangerous.

Zachary and southern East Feliciana parish can build to accommodate thisbut West Feliciana and St.Francisville are closed.

They are estimating 2000 people to build this facility over the next 5 years. Hopefully the Port Hudson area serves as home base

Then why did you say it ran on coal?

Tell me you don’t know how power works.

Are you trying to say this data center wasn't attracted by the nuclear plant being a couple miles away through the woods? Wtf. You're clueless.

Btw, there is already talk about Entergy eventually building a 2nd reactor to feed a second phase down the road.

I know. I don't know why I put 1 in that comment. My bad. I usually don't ever but 2. Don't need to specify it's 2 since no one ever is really talking about 1.

See above. I didn't intended to put 1 or 2. I didn't even realize I'd done so. I've only worked at 1, one time for about a month. I've spent a lot of time at 2.

I blame Grey Goose.

I’m guessing the construction workers will mostly stay in Baton Rouge or Zachary where there is more available rental housing.

The permanent employees at the power plants or at the data center…probably all over the area: St Francisville, New Roads, Zachary, the rural areas in between, etc. .

Zachary has 4 hotels. Probably 500 total rooms. Everybody that has a piece of land is going to be going to their local P&Z trying to get trailer parks setup zoned for their properties.
