Or… they chose that spot because of the nuke plant in the area to draw power from.

So……
They wanna be located next to the infrastructure…..
What was I wrong about?

Didn't it sell recently?

You responded to a post saying these data centers will need more power plants. That is absolutely true. The current MW capacity cannot supply enough power. You thought they’d just be taking from the nuke plant there. Not how it works. Need any other help understanding your own post?

In 2019 it was sold to CLECO. Nothing changed in terms of operations. Just prior to the sale, one of the 3 units was converted from Coal to Gas.

Who is doing the construction?
Im sure all the big time Baton Rouge Contractors will be involved. Plenty to go around between all the close/local Data Centers going on and planned.

No need to be rude.

No. I said they located it there because of the nuke plant. Because long term it makes sense to be near the proper infrastructure.
Just like you said.

You’re really smug for potato potato.

quote:Why did you say “or” and say specifically that they would draw power from the nuke plant?
”Will likely need more power plants.”
Or… they chose that spot because of the nuke plant in the area to draw power from.
My response was to say that 1) they will need more plants and 2) it won’t be from a nuke plant any time soon. You are wrong from both angles. I get why you are backtracking, but it’s all there in your original post.

Yes. It is now Pelican Power. Owned by Atlas Holdings and operated by Kindle.

One unit is coal fired.
The other was converted to natural gas a decade ago.
Posted on 12/9/24 at 5:21 pm to Sayre
Only unit 2 is gas. It was converted 8 years ago. 1 and 3 are coal still. The conversion was part of a deal with the EPA.
