But I just bought my wife a '14 Jeep Cherokee. So throw my practicality out the window.

OP, don't use any of the home remedy stuff. Get some #500 sandpaper and #1500, water bottle, and denatured alcohol. Use Renulite, although it is expensive it works and last for years. Spray down headlights, wipe off with clean rag. Spray down again and use 500 sandpaper and get the old coat off. Spray down again with water and use 1500 sandpaper, headlights will start looking white. Put denatured alcohol on clean rag and wipe headlights down. Car needs to be out of sun while doing this next part. Spray down headlights with Renulite after they have dried and wait for bubbles and lines to smooth out. May have to spray a few times. If cold outside run a blow dryer and heat up headlights, will help getting bubbles out. After its smoothed out placed car in sunlight for 5-10 minutes and you are done.

ETA: Will last you several years

ETA: When you get done with your car do you some friends cars and charge them 20-30 bucks until you finish the can.

I'm trying this Wednesday. Just got my sandpaper which is really hard to find. I had to order the #500 on Amazon. Anybody have success using this method?

I just compounded mine today, followed by a coat of wax. Used a DA buffer though. They dont look brand new because they're 12 years old, but I can put off buying new ones for a while

You can also use a buffing compound instead of the wet sanding, it's where people get the toothpaste idea. Basically the same thing but professionally made to do that.

I've used buffing compound and they still look new after 1.5 years. I'm sure they'll need it touched back up, but all I needed was a rag and $8 compound.

well.....

which do you have more of? time or money?

I just looked up my headlight assy from Rock Auto
from 37.00 to 57.00 each side

either way, there's a challenge, the drama of the restoration, or the drama of replacing a headlight assy
for the 1st time

screw the deet and screw the colgate

your decision...

Why don't headlight makers just have replaceable lens?

It's not oxidation...it's humidity.

No joke that shite didn't work! Wet sand them and then Polish out the sand marks. Make sure to apply some sort of sealant when you're done. I explained this earlier in this thread.
