Dude, that is solid. One of those fricking kits cost $20. Live and learn

I buy the stuff from link I posted above although I can get it for $40 instead of the $60 a regular customer would pay. I get about 8-10 jobs out of it. Headlight restoration is just an add on for me and not my main income. I enjoy doing it though.

ETA: My bad, you were replying to someone else

Right, but it makes sense for you. I imagine the next time I have to do it the kit will be all dried out and shitty.

I enjoyed it as well. Nice to see real results. I wish I'd have called you for my windshield replacement. fricker is whistling Dixie at 50 miles per hour.

go to any car parts store. they will have three competing products.
they work.
Its a lot of rubbing and changing pads with the various concoctions.
Just follow the directions.
if you have a power tool, you will be glad.

If possible take it back to glass shop and have them fix it. They could just squirt some urethane in there where its leaking. Shouldn't cost you a dime, may even come out to your home or work and do it for you.

I've sanded them with 1500-2000 grit sandpaper and buffed them just like you would a paint job.

That being said, headlights for some vehicles can be bought for a reasonable price on ebay. I just bought some for one of my old work trucks for $88 for the set.

mine are starting to go, so they're not too bad for a 12yo car, just starting to cloud up, but still can see lights on road....not the yellow dog lights many folk got

some reviews from the sams process.

LINK

honestly why would any of you not just spend the $30 and have FIVE YEARS for them to rebuff them if they get yellow vs dealing with all the wet sanding, different grits, buying/borrowing a buffer, etc.

did my wife's sequoia 6 months ago and they still look showroom new.

but carry on those who want to buy a $20 kit and spend 4 hours sanding your own.

True, but you don't need a buffer

Bout 2-3 minutes a headlight, although I know you were joking. If anyone else uses Sams, update us and let us know how it went. Overall they may be really good. If a 5 year warranty, honestly that's the best I've ever seen. The people I referred to earlier just didn't wanna make the drive back to Sam's and finally called me since I'd go out to their house and do it. I'm sure though, there are many others who are very pleased with Sams Club work.

Bug spray like "Off" works. You spray it on and polish it with a cloth and it clears it right up and it lasts.

There are some you tube videos which support this claim.

You need to sand them with three or so different grit papers and water. Use the most course one until all the blemishes are removed, sand with others ending with the finest grit, like 1500 or so. Then get one of those polishing wheels and compound they sell for lights.

Exactly what I did to mine. frickers looked brand new.

Hard to argue with that. You got 5 years to keep going back if it fails. Might be worth a shot anybody reading this. Only a few dollars more than buy it yourself kits and someone else can do the work and a really, really, really good warranty also. I'm sure if they give that kind of warranty, most don't fail though. Cool deal

Can the OT recommend a quick inexpensive way to clear up my headlights?

Sorry, can't help OT ballers like me never keep care long enough for this to be a problem.

When does this start to happen? 1 yr.? 2 yr.?

They are all different. Some vehicles will do pretty quickly after a couple years. I've done work on original headlights that were over 10 years old and customer said they just started getting that way. My truck is an 08 and stays outside and goes all over the place, headlights are very clear and I've never done any work on them. My wife's vehicles is a 2010 and hardly moves while staying under a carport and hers are starting to get cloudy. She keeps nagging me about clearing them up but they aren't bad enough yet to fool with it.

plastic headlights fricking SUCK.

my son got a 85 chevy blazer and he just bought TWO BRAND NEW FULL BODY GLASS LIGHTS + BULBS for $22 *TOTAL* at autozone for the extra bright sylvania.

and the ones he had before weren't yellow, just the bulb had burned out.

same with my 98 4runner. still using OEM lights from when i bought it..still bright & clear.

You will have to sand them down and then re-coat them. They have some really good youtube videos on this.

No man. I think they are the best trucks ever built. I'm driving an 06 Sequoia that is bomb proof.
