Ome time I watched the rov pilots try to pull a monkey's fist thru an eye in a line for like 30+ hours that's when I understood why they all vape so much

Can you tell me a little about how you got into that position and I what prior experience you had? I’ve always been very interested in working as a mud engineer.

I tried to go to school to fly helps, but I couldn’t come near to raising the $100k+ needed for the schooling.

I know a guy who, on a dare, stuck his arse out between the rails on the edge of the platform to drop a turd forty feet in to the water, and he did, but he also blew out a disc in his back.

Don’t do that. Even if someone dares you. Just don’t.

You still working for a company that does offshore work? I’d love to speak privately if you’re willing.

We have a couple of deepwater rigs in the US GOM and some shelf work in Mexico. Like everyone else, most of our focus is on the land markets.

They let you have a full beard? I thought that’s a safety issue with the respirators.

Worst thing offshore was doing night shift and then having the evacuation/emergency drills right after falling asleep having to lug the respirator and sit in the rescue boats sweating my arse off in the 100 degree heat.

By platform I’m guessing you mean production platform as opposed to offshore drilling rig?

To my knowledge we’ll be on a platform.

This is important. If you're not sure about something, don't be embarrassed to ask for help. It's better to swallow your pride and ask rather than the possibility of you getting yourself and others hurt, or worse.

If hes going on a rig, the only thing I know to tell him is to make sure he never forgets to put booties on his steel toe shoes before he goes in the galley for whatever fricking reason

My main experience is on land, but there’s some questions I’d like to ask in general that I’m not comfortable asking here.

We have some mutual friends I believe, right?

My email is corkfather@gmail.com if you wouldn’t mind shooting me an email when you have a chance.

You dont know which one?

I only worked on production platforms but caught a connecting flight on a rig once....the platform vibe is way more relaxed. You can tell a rig is more urgent.

Just to clarify some terminology....a platform can have a drilling rig installed on it.

The deepwater terms are platforms, drill ships, or floaters.
