Police: Cut Off man found with several hidden grams of meth while being booked into jail April 2, 2019 at 3:54 PM CDT - Updated April 2 at 3:57 PM NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - A man who was stopped for driving without a license plate light was jailed on drug charges after officers found 22.3 grams of methamphetamine “hidden on his person” during the booking process, according to the Golden Meadow Police Department. Trapper Pellegrin, age 40, faces charges that include taking contraband into a penal institution, possession with intent to distribute meth, third-offense possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a suspended license. Police said Tuesday just after 1 a.m., an officer stopped Pellegrin on North Alex Plaisance Boulevard in Golden Meadow for a missing license plate light. During the stop, the officer discovered that Pellegrin’s driver’s license was suspended, and while patting Pellegrin down, the officer allegedly found a digital scale. While Pellegrin denied having any drugs or other illegal items, a K-9 unit was called in to assist and alerted to the possible presence of drugs in the car. Pellegrin allegedly admitted to possibly having rolling papers in the car due to smoking marijuana earlier in the day. The officer found the papers but did not find any drugs. Pellegrin was then taken to the South Lafourche Sub-Station for booking, and during a more thorough search a correctional officer discovered the hidden methamphetamine, according to police. Pellegrin is jailed at the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex in Thibodaux. His bail was set at $9,500.
