The bill is for all other monuments across LA to veterans that haven't been torn down yet.

Hearing is a joke.
They are saying:
Robert E. Lee = Hitler
Anything Confederate = Slavery
The committee members can't maintain an intellectual thought.

Mitch has paved the path for a slippery slope.
Andrew Jackson, the freaking crown jewel monument of NOLA, is next on the list for these radicals....whom Mitch has empowered....to take down.
This bill, and SB 198, would put a stop to that.
States like Alabama have already saw this coming and have had the sense to pass legislation to stop this nonsense.

Andrew Jackson is going nowhere...

Same thing was said for the other 4.

The law the city utilized was intended to target only Liberty Place. Many of the City Council members who voted to put the nuisance law on the books voted to declare a Jefferson Davis day in New Orleans. Time and changing attitudes always move the goalposts and indeed Andrew Jackson will be removed unless state laws are enacted.
ETA-he is being removed from the $20 bill currently so his statue is just a matter of time.

I like that George McKessna showed up to speak to the legislature wearing shower flip flops.

Assuming that was some kind of service dog, unless anyone can just bring animals into committee hearings. Wonder what it was for

She said that she had anxiety issues.
ETA: I'm very surprised at how polite and courteous the whole deal is, crazy lady aside.

So you can now use anxiety as an excuse for a service dog??? Lolz, our country is going places.

This lady's voice is nails on a chalkboard.

FWIW, the ADA guidelines say that emotional support dogs are for verified PTSD cases only. Of course, 2010 wasn't a part of BHO's second term, when he went off the rails with the weird shite.
ETA:
1. This Morrell guy seems like a pretty sharp fellow. He's obviously not in favor of the bill, but he's politely debating the issue and offering solid counter-arguments to the speakers' points.
2. Who the hell doesn't wear a collared, tucked shirt when speaking before any governmental body?

Yes he's sharp, and ambitious and shrewd enough to keep his options open, but he's another Nola liberal politico that will break far left at a moments notice if he decides he doesn't need the moderate or right-leaning to further his goals.
