That is the law in LA.

I saw where someone in the northeast got a charge for improper use of hazards tacked on to their ticket when a cop pulled them over for speeding. The law said to only use them when your car was disabled and being pulled over by a cop doesn’t qualify. I guess the driver didn’t keep their hands on the steering wheel and say “yes sir” or “no sir.”

Legal or illegal, hazards in the rain is stupid.
Now, start pulling people over for driving slow in the passing lane.

Blame automatic on headlights. My wife's (no pics) car has them, she keeps it on auto 100 percent of the time. The sensor is the complete opposite of sensitive, it's got to be almost dark as night to get them to come on while raining.
People that use the automatic think, well if I need them, it will come on. But they don't work well with rain.

For modern cars, I agree. Yes...automatic headlights mislead people (or they don't have the sense to realize it's too bright for the sensor on the dash to make the switch to turn on the lights).
Back in the 80s and 90s automatic headlights weren't a popular item (if available at all)...and people would always drive without their lights.
And to the other poster...YES SILVER colored cards are the WORST. In rain or fog. Almost T-boned a silver truck one time headed down Hwy 27 at Hwy 108 in Carlyss.

Sorry about your ticket. Slow down a bit and stop driving like an a-hole.
Good. It's harder to see and react to people when they are driving and using their hazards.
It also makes it harder to see someone breaking.

My take on this is when you can barely see 50 yards from your car, using hazard lights alerts drivers behind you of your presence.
It also makes it harder to see someone breaking.

Rear fog lights like German cara have would be safer.
