Have you ever had to show Louisiana around to someone visiting from out of state?

They ended up buying a place in downtown Ferriday. They moved everything from their place in Montana in less than a month.

Took a vendor down to the big easy once. He got a speeding ticket. End of story.

Gave some friends a tip about a nice KOA around NOLA recently. Haven't heard from them but I'm sure they're busy doing all manner of tours.

On a positive note the basin bridge has some beautiful scenery of the La. swamps while driving over on I-10.You can see people with their cameras taking pictures while driving over. I guess this part of it could be a positive or a negative. You'll probably be stuck on it for a few hours because there is a wreck somewhere on it thus allowing plenty of picture time

Had one from California and one from Ohio on the same trip. Over 2 days, I showed them alligators along Airline Highway, took the ferry across the Mississippi River and dinner one night at the old Mulate’s on Bluebonnet. They were amazed. Both have brought their families back for vacations.

Went to the Capitol, toured a couple plantation homes in St. Francisville, walked around Port Hudson battlefield Park, went to LSU game. They enjoyed it.

i was stuck on the basin bridge for about 3 hours back in 2009. I had fishing poles with me and managed to catch a couple of bass off of the bridge while waiting lol

I take out clients in the city all the time. The Japanese really likes Dixie Divas and oddly enough Walkon’s.

Used to own a restaurant and met an older couple from San Francisco. Their son was stationed here and came to visit him. They loved the area went back to S.F., sold their house and bought one here. Weren't here 6 months and their son gets killed in a accident at Ft.Polk. Sad story. The mother was raised on Alcatraz, her father was a warden. The father was from Argentina and came to the U.S. as kid. Worked as a waiter in L.A. and served many a star. Cool people with a ton of cool stories. Unlike this one.

Sure...I do it frequently. Of course, you can't take a couple of weeks and show anyone the whole state, but I show people individual points of interest or individual towns often. I have never had someone not be totally fascinated with whatever I showed them. Of course, you have to put some thought into showing people the aspects of the state that you think they would enjoy.

It's always fun to see the expression on a visitor's face when you take them across the basin or spillway. We take for granted how frickin long those bridges are. Impressive to visitors from dry states

Quite a few people I know really enjoy Louisiana. The actual residents complain about it far more than the people who visit.

Sure. Family from the Pacific Northwest, Canada, and Australia, and friends from Japan. It went well. Hanging around Louisiana for a few weeks isn’t so bad.

One thing is for sure, every single one of them went home 10-15 pounds heavier from the good eats here.
