I've never asked. I've had some ideas.
I started dating my current wife when I was a senior and college and got married in my mid 20s. Once me and my future wife did the deed, I have never done it with anyone else. My number is in the mid 20s, thanks to high school and first few years of college.
I cannot imagine what it must be like today if I had to start dating again. Back when I was in my playing days, there was no tinder, etc. You actually had to walk up to a girl and talk to her to try to get her to get down.
Well, one exception. About a month before I started dating my eventual wife, I was chatting with a girl on... ICQ. We talked for a few days and she told me she was sure she had the biggest boobs I would have ever seen in real life. She sent me a pic. They were indeed huge. She lived about an hour away and one Friday night I traveled to her town and we hooked up, and she was 100 percent correct.

However, she wasn't really joking. She merely realized how disappointed her husband felt.
As to the OP, nope, I've never asked a gal. Don't care, and mostly I don't want them asking me. When a gal does ask me, my standard response is "Well I'm (state my current age), and I've been in some good relationships since I was 20." I beat the bush. I don't tell them a #, but I give them enough info to know its high.

This is a question that you probably shouldn't be asking- unless you're running into a different ex of hers every time you go out in public.

Never ask. Nothing good comes from it. Recently learned this. You will not be happy with whatever answer you get.
She answers too low, and you’ll think she was lying. And you will probably eventually find out she was lying and start to think that she’s cheating or something else that probably isnt happening.
She answers too high, and now you definitively know that you’re dating a whore.
Ignorance really is bliss. If she isn’t cheating on you, it doesnt matter how many partners she had before you.
