Yep. Riding in the passenger seat of my dad’s truck, dad driving, sister in back seat behind him. At a stoplight waiting to turn left onto Evangeline Thruway (3 lane highway in Lafayette). My dad takes a sip of his iced tea and starts choking, his foot comes off the brake and we start slowly rolling into the street where 3 lanes of traffic are coming toward us (me, specifically being in the passenger seat). I reach over the center console and punch the gas with my left hand. We start moving forward, but not before a car T-bones us going 40 mph. I thought for sure I was a goner, but the 3 of us were fine. Minor cuts, bruises, and a concussion. shite was scary as hell though.

3 massive heart attacks and a 12” zipper down the middle of my chest so yes. Yes I have.

I actually saw a light. Now I don’t know what that light was-maybe the overhead light in the ER, maybe some spiritual light or maybe the bat signal but I sure as hell saw a light.

7 solid days in the CICU but I feel half my age now. The Dr.’s Khan are rockstars and they along with the St George Fire Department and EBR EMS saved a dead man and I am forever grateful.

Three times that I recall:

1: Fell in the Ross Barnett reservoir when I was 5-ish. No problem, except that I couldn't swim, and no-body-fat young-me sunk to the bottom. 60 years later, I still remember the fish looking me like WTF.
2: Same situation as the OP: choked at a wild-game restaurant. No one noticed, and I self-hacked out of it. Left with quickness, and no more strange meals for me, thank you.
3: Decided to drive my new car pedal-down up on the Perkins Road onramp to I-10 WB. No problem, except that there was a car dead-stopped in the narrow section behind where Parrain's is now. In the slow-moving moments before I would have slammed into it, I remembered a recent Rolling Stone interview with Dale Earnhardt, Jr. where he described how he got out of a wreck by hard-throwing the wheel to the left and then to the right,

I did; I survived; and have been a NASCAR fan ever since.

Didn’t know it in the moment but I was almost carbon monoxide poisoned in December. Sister coming over and “smelling something” saved my life.

Atmos came over, detected a gas leak but couldn’t say from where. The only gas appliance in my house is the HVAC, so I figured I’d start there. Lifelong family friend happens to that for a living, so I had him come over and inspect it. Unit was not burning up all of the gas, so carbon monoxide was being dumped into my house via the floor vents. My friend ran his detector through my house, and was measuring 1200ppm of carbon monoxide (800ppm is considered deadly)

He called me and asked if I believed in God, I said yes, and he said, “good you better be thanking Him”. He told me the measurements and how lucky I was, and needless to say I now have a brand new HVAC unit and a carbon monoxide detector in each room of the house

Went trout fishing with my dad, we both got into deeper, more swift water than was safe for waders. We got separated. Mine filled with water and began to pull me down, got into about 8 feet of water then I passed out. No idea what happened next but I regained consciousness on the river bank with my dad standing over me. I would have died without him

Got it. Still glad you lived. Would hate to die that way, like Momma Cass choking on a sandwich.

I sometimes wonder what my last thoughts would be like if I knew I was dying. I always think I’m gonna be praying to God and asking for forgiveness so that I see a light that’s not a fire, lol.

Unfortunately I’d have to order you DoorDash any time soon. But my plan is to retire in exactly 2 years, allowing me to travel and visit family in Houston. I haven’t forgotten about you. I promise.

Yep. Got stuck in a rip current with 3 buddies in Puerto Rico last year the day after my wedding. I’m not a strong swimmer and I convinced myself this was it and that I was a goner. I started going under and thankfully one of my buddies grabbed me and pulled onto this giant 7 foot tall rock that was under the water and I was able to wait out the rest of the current and swim back to shore. Scariest experience of my life.

Hit black ice at full speed a few days ago on the interstate. 70 mph, did a 360 and went sideways through the median on to the other side. Vehicle didn’t flip and no cars were on the other side. But it passed by slowly with clear and semi-calm thoughts of “well, this may be it” and “you’ve got to be kidding me… like this?”

I had two incidents. On the first one my thoughts were, "this is my last breath. I don't think I can not breathe anymore." The second incident, my thoughts were, "I only made it long enough to see my child as a toddler. I won't know who he really is and he won't know me."

Like in the moment you think "this is it, this is how I die "

Nope

My life did not flash before my eyes

Was being as still as possible tho I was never that scared before or since

The large bear sniffing my feet and pawing at them was scary

The only thought was he was at my feet not my head so death would be slow and painful, not quick and less painful had he started munching on my head.

Been near death many times since, but that was the most intense near death experience.
