Yes, about a year ago someone stole one of my motorcycles. It didnt run worth a shite at the time found it dumped in a strip mall parking lot 2 days later. They had cut a bunch of wires and broke off the turn signals off one side but it wasnt but an hour or so of work for me to fix their damage.

The worst thing I have ever had stolen is my hard earned income. The Federal Government then gives it to some deadbeat who cannot take care of his or her children in the form of the Earned Income tax credit.

I started the thread to see if getting ripped off is as common as I believed and seeing the responses confirms it. It sucks that it's become routine and usually not even investigated by the police and pretty much expected no matter who you are or where you live.

The worst was when I had every single square of shingles stolen in a busy neighborhood. No one saw anything. They made multiple trips and got stuck in the mud as well. My mind was blown.

I would just like to point out that if your car isn't locked, it wasn't broken into, it was opened

Wasn't meant for only you, but I always hear about someone "breaking into" an unlocked vehicle. Still doesn't make the theft right

Bunch of CDs and a checkbook stolen when car was broken into.

Laptop stolen from unlocked car.

Cell phone stolen by a landscaper when I was passed out on the sidewalk once.

I used to steal candy, cigarettes, and beer all the time growing up though so I figure it is the universe just getting even whenever things go missing.

My favorite was at Desire Oyster Bar in the early 80s with my wife. She is eating a po boy, dude walks off the street and steals the po boy out of her hand as she lifts it from the plate. Figured he had the munchies. Still laugh about it every time I pass the Desire

I've never had any tools stolen. Just material. In the last year I've had truck loads of shingles stolen, a gas cooktop, microwave, a bunch of other random shite I can't remember and a shite ton of people throwing shite in my dumpsters.

Held up at gunpoint on LSUBR campus in the early 1980s. All they got was about $20 and my purse.

Juvie broke into my car parked in front of mom and dad's house in Metairie and stole the stereo out of it. The stereo was worth more than the car.

House broken into right before law school finals. Stole all of the electronics in the house. Luckily I had my computer with me. They left all of the books, so I assume they couldn't read and didn't realize that they were worth more than the TVs.
