For some reason, I started reading this thread at 5:30 am Saturday morning. I have repeatedly laughed myself to tears. What a way to start the weekend!
I don't have anything to add, but this thread sure brought back a lot memories, it delivered!

It was good to get confirmation that we all experienced this. Like I said in the OP, my son thought I was lying or just crazy.

There was a section of woods between my house and interstate ....I could find stuff hitchhikers etc left
There was also a cheap motel off the interstate that I would go looking for aluminum cans....I would find magazines and on several occasions segments of film
But mostly my dad's business partner's desk

Back in the 70s my LSU roommate had a ton of Playboy magazines he brought to our room. At the end of Spring semester, when it was time to go home for summer break, he didn't want to take the magazines home. We lived on campus in Kirby Smith and put them up above the ceiling tiles throughout several areas our room. First thing we did when we we got back after summer break was to pull the Playboys from the ceiling. Every freaking one of the magazines was gone! It was a tragedy! LOL

First stash we found was a whole box of Playboy, Penthouse, Oui, High Society, etc. on a dead end street. Dozens of mags. It was me, my brother, and 2 brothers we were friends with. We were all around 9-12 years old. Found another stash of 40-50 Playboy mags in the woods when I was around 12-13. Moved those to another spot in the woods, told my bro and our friends, then couldn’t find the spot where I hid them. 
Several other times we’d find a mag or two - strangest was a Swedish magazine that was all group sex. That was amazing to process as a pre-teen.
Also when I was around 12, a friend found his dad’s Deep Throat film. We had to go in his attic and watch it on a reel-to-reel projector.
