Well it takes a relatively small amount of effort to find credible sources on the web to support those claims as well as the exact opposite.
Add extraction and refining of the carbon based fuels used and that number changes significantly at any fossil fuel used as feedstock for electricity generation.
Not to mention the extraction and refining for the actual vehicle components from battery to plastic dashboard to synthetic rubber tires.
It also may reduce the emissions at the location of the vehicle while increasing emissions at the power plant due to added capacities to build out the grid.
So if you live in the city with the EV car good. If you live next to a coal fired power plant well…guess it just sucks for you.
As you said…truth lies somewhere in the middle.
I’m all for alternative energy and vehicles. However to make the ICE the scapegoat and think with electric vehicles we are all of the sudden living in utopia is naive that many have swallowed.
If people would admit this is promising technology and allow the market and science work without it being an all or nothing stance I believe we would advance the technology faster.

I don't see a giant difference in IQ between someone dropping $100k for a pickup vs buying this.

It's a quirky niche market car but still pretty cool. Not sure why you be hatin'.

I guess you didn’t actually read it. It was an illogical smear piece.
My favorite was them saying that they felt that it was unfair that electric vehicles were basically exempt from emission standards and just pretended, with little pretext as to why, that it was essentially a ICE vehicle getting 15 mpg.
Never mind the regulations would charge the manufacturer for producing that vehicle, they just decided to apply that penalty to every gallon gif gas burned. 6 dollars of that 17 comes from that.
Almost all of the rest is based on subsidies and tax breaks, but they but zero corrective actions to normalize it against gas, as if the oil industry doesn’t get the same.

Nah. It’s worse than that. It looks like a knockoff Matchbox car.

No one preaches the environmental impact of EVs more than the people who hate them. Fascinating.

Well said. I am a huge fan of all things ICE, and neither I nor the EV's have reached a station in life where I would consider an EV for purchase.
That said, only a fool would not realize that EV's are in their infancy when compared to ICE vehicles. Scale of production alone would blow most of the arguments against EV's out of the water. While I abhor subsidies, it will likely do its intended job which is to drive technological advances in all things EV, such as energy storage capacity, weight, towing capacity, and charging infrastructure. At some point along that path, it will likely be more feasible to go EV over ICE.

Yeah, doubtful there’s enough water displacement there to float that heavy EV battery.

Not if they continue to use lithium etc.
We will likely run out or supply will be so limited the price will be inhibitive to battery manufacturing on the scale necessary.

Nope. I haven’t bought mine yet.

I assume because of tax breaks and rebates.
I assume because of liberal target marketing...
