I was watching Fox 8 in the afternoon while home on the holiday.
One commercial break had 4 different PI lawyer ads, with a random ad for something else in between.
Local affiliates would be hurting but for lawyers and politicians in election season.

While I agree with you... frick the insurance companies... if Louisiana folks weren't exploiting tort laws and suing for every little minor accident.. they would just find another reason to raise rates
This might be the dumbest thing I've ever read on TD.
First, let’s clear something up. The “Louisiana Folks” you mentioned are injury attorneys. They don't just exploit our tort laws, they spend millions in lobbying to ensure the state legislature doesn’t pass tort law reform.
What baffles me is your comment, “they would just find another reason to raise rates”. If that were true, then why does Louisiana have one of the highest average insurance rates in the country? Drivers in Maine pay 1/3 of the amount Louisiana drivers pay for insurance. Why don’t insurance companies in Maine “just find another reason to raise rates”, as you put it? They don’t because the cost of doing business there is drastically cheaper than Louisiana. Insurance companies here expect to be sued over and over and work that cost into the insurance rates we all pay.

Problem is they've pretty much killed off the sole/small practitioner

Many of them have cartoonish TV ads and billboards that are a disgrace to the profession but are protected by the first amendment, for better or worse.
I've posted on here a million times before that you have to put Louisiana auto accident litigation into a separate legal system, either subject to a review panel clearinghouse system like med mal, or into a separate tribunal system like workers' comp where there can be no runaway juries. If you do that, you would drastically reduce the amount of claims filed, especially the frivolous ones, and most of thee billboard lawyers will simply go away and have to find new jobs.

A bunch, but the good ones live off of former clients and mostly referrals.

An explosion in TV ads for something is a sure sign that the free market is out-of-whack.

Injury lawyers and their clients fund your party.

Not just LA. Was in New Mexico recently. Saw truck wreck attorney billboards, a lawyer on TV with $1 billion dollar awards, one TV add with a phone # 544-4444. It's just not as many billboards or ads there, of course it's a poor state with very little going on other than UFOs, hippy artists, native American activists, weed shops on every corner, and tourism. But overall, lawyer suck the life out of anything good

Total BS excuse used by attorneys and even our last insurance commissioner. Do you have any stats on how road conditions lead to more accidents in LA and more injury claims and lawsuits.
