We used to dress up when I was a kid. Now, I think being clean is sufficient. It’s just different times.

Work and Church are more casual, dad used to wear a suit every Sunday morning and five times a day to work. When I first started teaching, I wore a tie every day, now, it’s a polo and khakis.

Old folks at the lodge say they all used to wear suits. Now, that’s only for events.

When you can conduct legitimate business on a zoom call in a coat and tie with sweat pants, the veil is lifted on the need to be formal. Not sure I like it, but it's reality.

I usually dress nice for Christmas and thanksgiving. I didn’t yesterday because I was outside running the smoker and frying a turkey. I did change my shirt when finished cooking though

I wore a blazer for the meal. Can’t imagine looking like a slob for Thanksgiving. C’mon man.

I've done it in briefs, but I had to choose something for the post. I've personally moved to more reasonable bottoms for sales calls out of principle (ie I wouldn't buy services from a dude with his bag resting on the chair) but it's still absolutely unnecessary.

Our dinner was a bit smaller this year due to the rising costs
And due to being out of work and eating a lot more I’ve gained even more weight
Luckily I still have my blazer, fits a bit snug but the few family members that were there were dressed nice even with our much smaller bird this year.

People have given up dressing up. Cargo Pants and Columbia shirts to church, nice restaurants, funerals

This is some puritan church bullshite mentality. Real Americans judge other Americans by how they dress around their own families?

Dressing up to shop at Walmart doesn’t make it any less trashy

I made this thread years ago and most here enjoy coming in from the deer stand directly to the table for thanksgiving dinner. To each their own.

I personally enjoy dressing nice, so I do. If others don’t, that’s fine!

I’m not dressing nice to go hang out in someone’s kitchen and living room.

Jeans and collared shirt is plenty

I met my gf's family for the first time yesterday, we went over to her sister's house where her family was congregating.

I wore a nice a button up, with some khakis, nice-ish loafers.

Everyone there was dressed in casual dress, tshirts, leggings, jeans, etc. except for her mother and her bf-they were dressed nice as well. I like to think her mom noticed that I also dressed nice.
