If so, how long did it take you to figure it out?

17 year marriage ended with her having a combination of Narcissistic Personality Disorder along with Borderline Personality Disorder.

I always knew something was wrong but I never knew what it was while in the marriage.

I finally had to walk away and then got the knowledge and figured it out in April 2022.

I could literally write a book on what I went through but will go into detail once I see what others here have been through.

In my case, let’s just say she always told marriage counselors she didn’t “feel safe” and I was always like WTF? Ask anyone I’ve ever dated or had long term relationships with and they will tell ya they’ve never felt any safer.

I realize now, not “feeling safe” to her was nothing more than not being able to control or manipulate me.

These personality disorders in marriage and partnerships are something! My heart goes out to anyone that gets tied up in the rollercoaster that is one of these relationships.

Let me guess. She was always either the victim or hero of every story. And she had LOTS of stories.

Bipolar 2 marriage participant checking in. 19 years of being married to that before we divorced.

If you are about to go thru a divorce I would delete this until after it’s over in case her lawyer somehow finds it

EXACTLY

She played on my sympathy and empathy when we dated

I had the “I’ll fix her and show her what true love is” mentality

WRONG answer!!

Oh absolutely but this subject will always fascinate me.

These Cluster B personalities are literally like A.I. and feel absolutely nothing.

But they are sure good at convincing you that they do feel something.

It’s like a doll. Looks great on the outside but there is absolutely nothing there on the inside.

Married, no. Having a sibling with it, yes. Diagnosed by 4 different therapist but each one them just didn't "understand" her.

I dated one 10 years ago and thank baby jesus every day that I didn't get her pregnant and ended it once I figured out she was not normal.

Thankfully got a clean break and she moved away. Heard she went thru a handful of other relationships and eventually got engaged but he broke it off.
Good for him

Dated a girl about 15 years ago with BPD. Lasted 2 years and I got tf outta there. She was either going to kill herself or me, or both of us at some point.
