I hear there are recent opportunities in indoors agriculture. Just don't use the product too much.

I've heard that, too.
Ironically enough, I've never even smoked weed. Crazy, right?

Boulder is more upscale ... probably a bit more expensive. You haven't said if you're in school, or what kind of work you are looking for so it's hard to guess what you want. If you are looking for a house, it's a seller's market so don't expect to find great bargains. Anything from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins is good. West is ok, East not so much. Aurora has a good part and a trashy part.

Denver is great but so big and the traffic is terrible. The cost of living is very high there relative to other places on the front range.
I'd want to live in the mountains if I had no attachments. Durango would be fantastic.
One option would be for both of yall to work at a ski resort this winter. That way you have a job and could potentially use employee housing. Then just go from there on if you want to stick around for the summer or move to somewhere else in the state.
The best realistic options would be around Ft. Collins or around Colorado Springs (not south side).

Whatever you do, stay out of Pueblo.
Ditto on that, unless you are into having your washing machine and sofa on the front porch.

I liked Aurora...close enough to Denver and not that far from the Mountains.

I'm planning on moving up that way before the end of the year. Problem is I have no idea where I'd like to live, other than be kinda close to mountains.
I'm an OT poor who is in a transitional phase and will be living in an apartment or subleasing a room for the short term. I've found places that I can afford pretty much all over the state, I'm just having trouble narrowing down my choices. I've looked at Boulder, Colorado Springs, Denver, Superior, etc... But I would be open to living anywhere. It's going to be a fresh start so to speak, so I don't really care.
Do you guys have any recommendations or warnings?
jesus dude it's like you're reading my mind.. im heading out there in January myself

My wife is from Durango and it's one of the prettiest places I've ever seen. I ask myself everyday why I don't choose to live there.

Several mentions of Durango. I'll definitely check it out.

towns in Colorado really vary a lot, so you have to figure out how liberal or conservative a town you want to live in...
Which parts are conservative and which parts are liberal?

Fort Collins and Colorado Springs ---> conservative
Boulder and a lot of mountain towns ----> liberal
Denver ----> mix

Durango is amazing. Purgatory (now Durango Mountain Resort) is the ski resort. I think there are some oil and gas jobs out there too, among other things. Definitely worth your time to check out.

If you aren't bringing your job with you then you may want to look somewhere else. It is booming here, everyone wants to live here so it's expensive and competitive for jobs. Rentals are pure hell to find and high $$. It's great if you can get set up here but I don't think we could afford to move here the way things are now. We got here 4 yrs ago when prices weren't out of control yet.
If you are dick hard on moving here then I'll agree with others and say Durango or Ft Collins. Finding a job in either place is not going to be easy.
Colorado Springs is alright but has a bunch of religious people, real religious...then you have the air force academy there so you have a bunch of military also. I wouldn't choose it over other places here except for Pueblo. Pueblo is growing because of the marijuana business but it is flat and has constant wind. It's basically south Wyoming.
The mtn towns are great but the quickest way to become a millionaire is to move to a mountain town with 3 million. The mtn towns have 6 months of winter, 3 months of mud and 3 months of summer. You better love the snow to move there.

I spent a summer living in Fort Collins.. It was frickin awesome, would recommend. Very nice and clean and you get a little of the Colorado hippiness with it being still very grounded.
