"I have spoken with Commissioner Michael Harrison and the officer who struck the woman has been removed from police duties. I've also asked Commissioner Harrison to relay a simple message to his command staff and to officers from across the city: sound, constitutional policing is the only acceptable way we're going to do things here in Baltimore under my watch.
"I believe the first officer, who was struck multiple times by the woman, showed remarkable restraint by not retaliating as he was being assaulted. The woman should have been placed under arrest and not assaulted. Our system of justice does not involve the concept of an 'eye for an eye.'

This is an absolute travesty of justice, and yet absolutely expected in a city like Baltimore

Yes we have, and it is still great.

I think he was talking about the fact that the cop who did the punching has been removed from the force

Need information about the race of both parties before I can pass judgment

He probably shouldn't have hit her with a haymaker but I would have allowed. She asked for it.

I will never get tired of seeing instant justice like that.

Woman who assaulted the first cop: black
Cop who got assaulted: white
Cop who knocked out the woman in retaliation: black
Black cop got fired

In the environment today, I think he is suspended or fired even had he just taken her down. Short of just taking it, there's just not much these cops can do without risking their safety or their jobs right now. Sad.

This is a tough one... how outraged should I be and how many flat screen TV’s should I steal?

Odds are the cop who hit the woman will get reassigned to another jurisdiction.

Like the Molotov cocktail guy who caught himself on fire.

Her being a woman didn’t help his case.
Ladies, don’t hit a man because you think he won’t hit back.

Is there a go fund me for the officer that was relieved of his duties?
Posted on 6/1/20 at 4:02 pm to LordSaintly
On the contrary, I view the officer who threw the haymaker at the woman as a civil rights pioneer, exhibiting equal "rights" for all.

He wasn't removed from the force, the Baltimore Sun reported that he is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation. Baltimore is under federal consent decree and it has different protocols it must follow.
The woman was arrested.
