Because they heard about the Boomer post-war ease, then watched Boomers create and solidify every shortcut for themselves and never relinquish control, take responsibility. Boomers dropped a huge burden on everyone, without caring.

When savingsand futures look bleak, like you'll never get out of the hole, it becomes easy to not care.

And I say that as someone who has, but see it in a lot of my generation.

A myth borne of victimization.

Most of you wouldnt have survived working in the 70s and early 80s.

It is because they grew up married to their smart phones. It will be hilarious when the internet gets taken out.

Kids that grew up "normal" today will have a massive advantage over most of the Zoomers and Alpha generation.

If I do my job on a computer I should be able to do it from where I want to, because chances are my company has offshored most of its admin tasks to India.

If there’s not a performance issue and the person is able to get all their work done from home, why is it a problem? I get it if you can’t trust your workers, but just coming to the office for the sole purpose of laying eyes on them is idiotic.

Most people are clueless to this reality.
It's going to be the biggest job killer in history.
And all of these people that are too lazy to return to the office are just giving companies even more incentive to invest in AI.

The Covid Lockdowns have been over for years now, and companies still can't get them to come back to the office.
They act as if it is the simple act of actually showing up for work is cruel & unusual punishment.
Companies should tell them to show up by a given date or they are fired, period.

Mine and my teams productivity have increased since we have gone remote due to increased availability. We are being told to go back into the office starting next year, we will take a 25% hit to productivity, this was presented to executives.

They are now scrambling to find balance because they don't want to lose 25% productivity. Also, key resources have stated they will leave if forced to return to the office.

So overblown. AI will eliminate jobs by creating more jobs in other areas.

It may change in the future but it's currently very similar to offshore development. Someone has to tell it exactly what to do, then it will get done, and probably be about 75% correct.

Everyone thought offshore would kill tech jobs and it hasn't.

Not true.

We will need fewer human inputs with AI and automation. A lot fewer.

We’re about to find out just how right he was.

From the 1970s to roughly now, offshoring and automation gobbled up blue-collar factory-type jobs.
