Has the BS spying and remote control of vehicles starting next year been discussed yet?

It was slipped in and passed in a recent bill. All GM and Fords starting next year will monitor the driver 24/7 reports information out. Vehicle can be remotely turned off. Erratic driving can be reported to authorities and car insurances will be able to purchase driving data.

Drive an older model Toyota
Don’t drive like an a-hole
Don’t drive under the influence
Carry minimum liability and make companies compete over my business every six months so get the lowest rate possible
Have never been in a wreck.

Pretty sure all those things have been around for a while but it’s just mandatory now. Cops been using OnStar to stop car chases for a long time.

True but the monitoring is new. You will have a camera on your face the whole time now watching your eyes.
Regardless it is complete BS.

The reporting might be new but the monitoring isn’t. They’ve been collecting your data since they figured out how to get a cell modem in cars cheap enough. And arguably before that when they downloaded your ecm when you took it to the dealership.
ETA and just to be clear I DO NOT support this shite. I think it should be illegal.

Carry minimum liability
You must not value your home, savings accounts, or wages, which can all be garnished should you end up on the wrong end of a PI laswuit.
Carrying minimum liability is laughably stupid.
I appreciate your sage advice on your high mileage Tundra in other threads (I own a 2018 myself) but you are dead wrong in this case.

His trailer and SSI makes him pretty judgement proof.

I am not aware of any vehicles that record the driver and monitor eye movements right now. Maybe some higher end cars or Teslas but your run of mill F150 does not, but will start next year.

Most cars that have lane tracing and other features tracking eye movement as part of their safety to make sure people don’t fall asleep or look at their phone while it’s being used. My Lexus has it, my wife’s Tesla obviously does it turned up to 11 because those dudes would know if you were getting road head.

Total “I buy things at Walmart, use it for the weekend, and return it for a refund” type move.

Both Ford and Chevy/GMC has this right now in the vehicles that have Blue and Super Cruise respectively.

I will never forget when I was a kid I overheard a discussion between my Dad and a guy he knew. This guy was telling my Dad how when he had a wedding or funeral to attend he would go buy a suit then return it after. Even as a kid I was thinking was a cheap MFer.
