I have been programmed from the beginning to love God and trust Him and seek Him and put Him first in my life.
I think that is the essence of the solution Nurse. We are spirits in the material world. Ghosts in the machine. Not materialistic automatons here to consume and compete as our political, social and financial overlords would have us believe. 90% of what you were led to believe growing up was faulty programming designed to keep you a good little consumer and a tiny cog in the big machine.

I agree, but I can tell you from personal experience that it’s much easier said than done.
Don't doubt that, but I also never said it was easy to do.
I'm sure for a lot it's a "one foot in front of the other" process, while others don't require as much work.

Speak for yourself....I’m happier than a pig in shite

Sure. ON the same note some people are programmed to not let anything bring them down and are always happy.

How do you know pigs in shite are happy?

I get depressed when my farts don't stink as much as I think they should. It's frustrating to say the least.

While I think many who have clinical depression need therapy and drugs to help them, the rest just need to fricking buck up and make the choice to be happy. Stop wallowing in your own self pity and go enjoy yourself.
Well and there are different types of therapy that can help those that don't necessarily have Major Depressive Disorder but instead struggle with something like Adjustment Disorder. Or general feelings of being down.
Something like Solution-Focused Brief Therapy is great for trying to move someone like that forward instead of dwelling on the past. Helps you develop a vision of what you want for your future self and the skills to develop that in a person's circumstance.

It's too early for either.

Orange man lost is not the end. Keep your head up, and try some psychedelics to reprogram that unhappiness. The Fadiman microdose schedule works wonders for people

Are you really though? Dig deep. Or is that just a mask that you are wearing?

And so no matter what you do to become happy, you are bound to fail. The backbone of a materialistic consumer society. We are programmed and lied to from cradle to grave. Food for thought on this Friday.
It's the human condition, we're designed to look for the next thing. This was extremely helpful when people lived food to mouth, and living to next year was an actual accomplishment. Now we live in a world of excess (a lot of which is due to capitalism yes) where it is almost impossible to fail so hard you die. The joy in just living is gone, because it's honestly not that hard to survive.

Has it ever occurred to you that you have been programmed to be unhappy?

The only mask I’m wearing is my daily detox and pore cleaning one

This thread made me unhappy.
Posted on 1/8/21 at 9:31 am to genuineLSUtiger
What if I can’t remember the last time I was unhappy, wife says the same thing. If you are chronically unhappy has it occurred to you that you may be suffering from depression.
