Moved into that truck from a Tacoma-had the same minor inconveniences you talk about and quite honestly, the newer engines and gearing (2016-) were pretty underwhelming.
The engine is somewhat underwhelming. I have the press the ECO off button in order to get the quicker acceleration that I need on occasions.
Sucks. Didn't have that issue in my Ford. That thing would haul arse.

That's a tight-looking truck. RAM was always last on my list for looks, but this one is right in the mix. No clear fave among Ford, Chevy, Toyota, and RAM.
Same here. I have no loyalty to any brand. I've owned Honda, Nissan, Toyota and Ford. Never considered Dodge before, but this truck looks great.

I’ve had Chevy, Ford, Toyota. My dad has 215k on his 2002 Silverado.
I got into a weird situation where I was driving a Sienna minivan for a couple years. So when I was able to buy a truck, I wanted the “truckiest” one I could find. I didn’t want something too smooth and refined. That’s why I went Tundra. The F150 drove so smooth, it felt almost like a car.

RAM is its own division under the Dodge umbrella now. This allowed them to significantly improve the RAM.

You'll get a lot of replies in here saying they suck by people that have never owned one. I've owned 3 and they were all solid trucks.
Not sure if this has held true bc I haven’t read all 6 pages, but I agree. I’m on my third Ram, solid truck.
That said, I wouldn’t buy a 2019...first of year of an all new model.

I love the Ram looks.
I’ll be honest, I wanted a truck with a decal. Ever since the 1990s Z71, I wanted a decal. It’s stupid, but whatever. Ram doesn’t have a decal as far as I know. That sort of turned me off. Yes it’s a dumb reason to not buy a truck.

I drive a 2013 Laramie with about 70k miles and I can say it’s the best car I’ve owned.
Love the Hemi, lots of power, comfortable ride - and it’s a beautiful truck in and out. In my opinion it’s much nicer than Ford.
I test drove several Tundras and felt the quality of the two were so similar I couldn’t make sense in paying a premium for a Tundra.

The Tundra is not the smoothest. I’m expecting mine to last 200K+ Miles, but a new Ram is going to feel as good or better.

I wish my F150 didn't have them but they don't bother me enough to take them off

the hemi is still the joke it was when it was first introduced
Why is the hemi a joke? It’s a reliable and strong motor. Much quicker than people give credit for when paired to the 8 speed transmission.

Can you enlighten me on this? I'm curious only because they have staked their reputation on the HEMI concept in just about every vehicle they make that isn't a four-banger.

I believe so. It's all marketing. Still owned by FCA
It's no longer part of Dodge. Ram Trucks, like Jeep, is it's own company under FCA.
More than likely it was spun off of Dodge to make it easier for Sergio Marchionneto to sell.
I wouldn't be shocked if Ram, Jeep, and maybe Chrysler are owned by a Chinese company within 10 years. Dodge will probably be killed off completely.

He can’t because he was talking out of his arse. The hemi is very good motor. Probably second best V8 available in a half ton behind GM’s 6.2 LS.
Friend of mine has a reg cab 2016 Ram R/T that he likes to mess with. Think he just pulled a little weight from it, added a tune, intake, exhaust, and maybe one or two other small mods and he’s run a 12.54 in the 1/4 mile - on the OEM 22” rims too. That’s flying for hardly any engine modifications. The low 1st through 3rd gearing of the 8 speed transmission really transformed the hemi. It always suffered from a lack of low end torque.

One of my clients owns a business that employs over 100 on call diesel mechanics. Each mechanic logs about 50K per year on their truck( company pays mileage to employee rather than own company trucks)
I surveyed the lot one morning at a safety meeting and over 40% were Ford F150 or F250, Chevy came in next followed by Toyota and Nissan- Ram was dead last
These men buy a new truck every 2-3 years
Just sayin

I know a large surveying company that only buys Rams.
And I bet others here know companies that only buy GM
Means nothing.

The trucks have been solid for some time now. I don't know that I'd buy first year of a new model, but Fiat/Chrysler seems to do pretty well on the vehicles they actually care about. The Hemi/8Speed is IMO the best powertrain in a half ton truck today. Last three trucks have been Ram, Tundra, and Silverado. All 3 honestly have been great.
That said, I wouldn't own a Chrysler product outside of Ram, Wrangler, Durango/Grand Cherokee, or Challenger.

I posted earlier about the quality of Dodge, but from a pure looks perspective, they make the best looking of the full size trucks.
If you can afford it, buy a Tundra. If not, Get a F-150, if not, get the GM or the Dodge.

I didn't really care for the Tundra. It needs to be updated. I recently bought a F150 but I'll likely never even put 100k on it. I drive about 8-9k per year now.

I haven't priced little trucks in a long time but a Toyota costs more than an F-150?
