Has biological weapons become a bigger threat than nukes?

Nukes at least have mutual assured destruction as a legit deterrent.
But with seeing how a low death rate virus like Covid-19 has crippled the US and other country’s economies, really worries me.
Some country or hostile groups that would love to destroy the US, could have the perfect weapon in some lab that could ruin our economy in a short period of time. It could be done without anyone knowing who did it.
If this Covid-19 was able to infect so many people, imagine another novel virus that is as easily spread as Covid or even more contagious. If it behaves like Covid and can be dormant for weeks while still being highly contagious but with a super high mortality rate, we are all fricked.
I wonder if there any known viruses that fits the bill whether in a lab or just waiting in some animal ready to jump to humans.
I’ve been home too long and I’m thinking of negative shite like this. But I see some scary potential for this type of problem after what is happening to our country bc of a damn virus.

If we can't handle this, we couldn't handle a nuke hitting our country. Or anywhere else globally for that matter.

This implies all of the impact of a biological agent as being surprising and new.
You’d probably be scared shitless then to know it’s a matter of public record how to modify smallpox to crash vaccine efficacy to zero or only have a short protective period.
Actually it’s a major bioweapon research angle to try to figure out how to treat the altered variant before someone somewhere releases it.

No because that move would end up backfiring on the country that created the biological weapons. In 2017, there were over 223 million passengers on international flights to and from the United States. That’s over 600,000 passengers per day. If a biological weapon was released and some of those passengers were infected, they would spread it to people in the countries that they were traveling to. It would create a boomerang effect and the disease would eventually get back to the country that created the biological weapon in the first place and devastate them as well.

Part of biological weapons is that you know how it works, so you already have a treatment regimen both identified and stock piled prior to release.
Ideally even a vaccine.

Natures destructions has always trumped mans and will for my lifetime at least. Bio warfare is hardly as scary as nature’s bio war. However both Natural and man-made bio warfare is much scarier than man-made physical destructive Forces like bombs.

I'm pretty sure all this has done is shown how absolutely impotent the strongest country to ever exist is, it should give any human being pause.

So where’s the vaccine this time? You think the next virus will be similar?

Well coronavirus isn’t man made so people need time after its discovery to develop a vaccine.

People are not missing work because they are sick.
The idiot bureaucrats are the ones who crippled this economy. Maybe we should get rid of them.

Maybe China will be more honest after we destroy their economy

That’s my main point. Anything more dangerous and it would put us is in a huge depression if people started dying like with something deadly as the Spanish Flu in 1918 but way more contagious. If we get caught with our pants down on the next dangerous novel virus that shuts the economy down anymore, this country would be in serious trouble.
I’ve become a believer in a major proxy war with China is gonna happen . If that fails, I see a major tender box that could cause the US and the other big players scare them to the core with military action and even declare war as unlikely as that sounds. They may take the first shot. Chimes viruses shouldn’t be shutting down our economy so easy.

Spoiler alert: this was never a bio weapon. Never engineered and never deliberately released.

So you’re saying we already have vaccines for all bio weapons? This virus couldn’t have been started in a lab?
Posted on 4/10/20 at 12:53 am to Volvagia
Does that mean a deadly virus will never be used to sabotage the US economy on purpose? What if another country bought some and releases it in the Americans. Terrorist groups are the one I’m watching first.

Yeah China has been straightforward about this whole thing, good point

China is typically not honest.
The statement it’s not a bioweapon is based on genetic analysis from non Chinese scientist.
