About 10 years ago I passed the first test and then passed the in-person one, but still didn't get picked.

I did the same thing with "Win Ben Steins Money" when I was 22. In the live audition they told us to get all excited when we answered and show a "personality for tv". Anyways, there were 3 of us, they asked us 3 questions and I got all 3. The other people didn't even get to buzz in and I acted all excited, which isn't me. Long story short.....I thought I would be on for sure but they never called, probably because I acted like a huge dork with me "tv personality".

You only get 15 seconds for each question
5 in the live test

And then if you pass that there is a mock game

It's the initial test for possible selection on the show. There are numerous tests and auditions before you can get on the show.

The Ben Stein test was like 100 questions and they only took the top 10%. Then those 10% did a mock game, in which I answered every question right, but I STILL didn't get on! I did watch some of the episodes and I think my age was a factor, almost everyone on there was at least 30 and I was only 22. I did it the first week I moved to L.A. trying to make some cash!

I did an audition for Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in 2001. There were 100 of us that took a test and a third of us passed to the fake game on stage.

Prior to the auditions, the show consisted mainly of white males between 25-35..I think they instituted the auditions to get a different type of contestant. Although I was I was white male in that age range, I got a post card saying I "passed" the audition and was in the constestant pool but never got the call to go on the show.

However, I did see two people I auditioned with make it on the show and get to sit with Regis. One was a tatted & pierced up twentysomething and an older lady. Neither of them won a million bucks.
