Saint Amant Steve still dips three cans a week and thinks just because a high school is mostly white and has an average ACT score of 21 that its awesome. LOL

I have no clue why people are freaking out over these prices. I think they are very reasonable. Cheap in fact ..

And not a damn one is a true Public school. I hate when someone says New Orleans public schools are bad and then someone brings up Ben Franklin
If you have to take a test and get accepted, it should be called a free private school

It's tantamount to profiling.

Why does the Catholic School in Slidell have a drug testing fee?!? Odd...

Damn St Paul's has gone up about 50% in 10 years!
Pretty ridiculous, that equates to over double the pace of inflation over the last 10 years.

That's nothing. There are a number of high schools that hit the 40k/yr mark in NYC. I refuse to pay that.
But is public school a valid option up there or do your kids have to be a skilled marksman like in Baton Rouge?

Besides a few exceptions, these are comparable to BR private schools.

jesuit is still under $10k. I thought they were suppose to be elite.
when you have over 1-2K kids apply for 2-300 spots, yeah, i'd say it is elite

My kids went to HNJ. It's a good school and highly thought of. Lots of parent involvement. It really does attract a good number
of students from around the metro area even though it is mostly Uptowners. The racial mix could be a bit more balanced, but minority kids have enough of a presence to not feel out of place. The English and religion programs are the strongest. Math and Social Studies are good. Science and the Arts need improvement.

Tier 3 schools in St. Louis start at $10k and tier 1 schools are closer to $30k
You're not kidding. I went to Chaminade for a semester after Hurricane Katrina. My alma mater is pretty high on that NOLA tuition list and Chaminade's is double.

My buddies dad told me when the Sauce Picaunte Festival was going on in Raceland in its heyday they only paid $40 a month for tuition if you were a parishioner and worked the fair. He thought that was expensive.

Most of those look very reasonable compared to Houston. Top privates are $20k for lower and middle schools.

So is LASMS, Baton Rouge High and others. The fact is that the New Orleans area now has some really good free schools. There was only one before Katrina.
