I got a letter from my insurer that the amount they would be taking out of my checking account this month is $75 cheaper than the usual automatic deduction.

It happens on renewal, at least with Geico. Our insurance bill was $27 this month.

Reading this thread makes me really realize how much of a joke car insurance is....
I haven't been in a wreck in 9 years, I've filed 1 claim to fix something from being hit in a parking lot, I've never been late and I haven't had a ticket in 9 years either.... Yet 4 years ago my auto insurance was 153 and today it is 192.
I've shopped around and I can go back to Geico for 140 or Root for 118 but I know within 4-5 years it will be back up to close to $200.

I'm not defending insurance companies but it's going to increase like everything else over time. Inflation happens in that industry also.
I've found it's best to shop your auto and home every few years and bounce around a little.
It's like the cable company. A lot of times they give new customers the best prices and screw over the long term ones.

Also factor in as your car gets older the insurance rates can increase due to a lack of safety features or replacement parts/cost.

Progressive is taking 20% off for the months of April and May so yeah I have seen the discount already
