When I came home from war I was angry all the time. I was pissed off that millions knew what the Kardashian's wore today, but had no clue where Fallujah was and certainly didn't know the names of the Americans who died there that day. I was frustrated with people bitching about a long work day and not seeing their families for 12 hours, while I knew there were troops working on a 48 hour day, only to go back and sleep in a shithole and not see their family for months (if ever again).
Since then, I've learned that I can't expect everyone to be as vigilant as me all of the time. I can't get mad at people for not meeting whatever "expectations" I may have in my head and ultimately, there's no reason everyone should be as miserable as I was.
Some felt this photo series was "shaming" civilians who didn't serve (if that's the case, I don't agree). I didn't see it that way. I saw it as a way to put into images what so many young people coming home from war feel when they try to reintegrate into civilian life and are back home with their family and friends. It represents how foreign the world they grew up in is to them now and how the things that used to matter to them have taken on a completely different meaning. As this page is about awareness and someone out there may be the angry Veteran or the loved one of an angry Vet trying to understand, I felt it was good to share and explain.
saw this posted on FB the other day and got mildly annoyed. The guy comes off as an attention whore seeking thank yous, not all vets act like this but there is a certain segment of them that come back with a chip on their shoulder seeking praise. Its usually the ones that only signed up because it was literally their last option.

I knew what I was volunteering for when I joined up, it's really awkward for someone to thank me. It's kinda like, I signed up to better myself and to serve a nation that has given me so much opportunity wise.. No one really does shite for mom, freedom, or apple pie.. You just do it because it's your job..

My coworker was offended because when he ran a stop sign he still got a ticket even after the policeman saw his "Gulf War Veteran" license plate cover.

It's a lot of faux outrage. I've noticed it on twitter and facebook.

I just don't get the point in seeking attention that way. Wouldn't you rather receive a "thanks for your service" naturally. Instead of jumping on social media and asking for thanks.

Fuuk you. Come back and start another thread when you are a veteran. Until then I'll consider you and all the other know-it-all pukes too ignorant to even speak with.

My take on all of this.
Pussificatuon has always existed. Technology (Facebook and whatnot) have allowed said pussies to not only join together but have given them a voice.

I'm thinking that many/most of these candy-assed "butthurt" types were probably pussies to begin with who probably joined the service for a couple years, were lucky enough to do nothing more dangerous that push a broom, then got the hell out as fast as they could.
This Douglas Ducote dipshite who was in the news recently over some flag BS at a McDonald's somewhere is most probably Exhibit A of this type.

What I find amusing is the fact that it's conservatives who are doing this. It's becoming real hard to tell who is more annoying out of conservatards and libtards.

Ohhh it's mad! It's MAD, yah! IF it's mad!
Why you so mad, lil tiny misère?
You MAD MAD MAD yah shah!

Maybe they're just tired of ignorance about topics that are not difficult to grasp if one just took time to read about them.
Stupidity should have no defenders.

oh for sure, no respectable 20 year 11b (infantrymen) is going to get butthurt over this. Whenever I see it, it's a joe who serve maybe 4 years.

The whole you aren't allowed to bitch about anything because I've been to war and seen some shite is also obnoxious. Like the guy above said, well that's what you signed up for, that's your job.

I'm sorry you two morons don't understand what I meant. I know what generalization is.
