He must have a couple of houses in the area.

He has said in interviews that he lives on St. Charles. Maybe Audubon Place.

He's on the wagon now and is about as normal a guy as you will ever run across given how famous he is. I think he may have been up and down when off the wagon, but who isn't?

John Goodman is a sonofabitch. He's a big guy. About 6'7", 385. Did I ever tell you about the time John Goodman sold me into slavery? I hate John Goodman, but I respect him.

was behind him in line at the Discount Zone on Metairie Rd. and Friedrichs.

He lived on that Private Rd right past Bamboo off Metairie Rd. I'd see him all the time at the Langensteins, CC's, TCBY, Burger King etc.

curious as to how he has wealth, not a big star, in a few shows/movies, not great hit shows or movies, nothing that you see that would seem to be generating tons of royalty $, just curious

understood, but the big guaranteed money doesn't trickle down to all of the players, and certainly not the royalties, plus, when's the last time you've seen a Rosanne or Monster rerun? it could be happening overseas I guess, if he's in on that for his "body of work," props to his agent/lawyers, I just talked to a friend of mine today that has regular nonspeaking parts in Chicago PD/Fire that has had to sleep in his truck in 40 degree weather recently

Really good interview with him here.

Once you got together, what prompted the permanent move south?
I’d kind of had it with show business and I wanted to get away from Los Angeles. The options were St. Louis or New Orleans. We got as far as buying land in St. Louis. But Anna Beth started designing a house that got to be the size of Buckingham Palace and I said, “This ain’t gonna work out.” So we chucked it and bought a haunted house [in Old Metairie, a suburb of New Orleans] instead.

You sold that house not long before Katrina and moved to the Garden District. Then,?after the storm, you joined the cast of Treme. Was that hard?
I was playing a character that had a lot to get off his chest, and I had the same feelings, so I got rid of a lot of rage that way. It was great to tell the story of recovery—and to work at home.

On those increasingly rare occasions when you’re home these days, what do you like to do?
I like going to the dog run at City Park. [The Goodmans have a Golden Retriever and a cocker spaniel.] I like going out to the Lakefront. I used to like going down to the Quarter just to peek around, but I can’t get away with it anymore. Everybody’s got a camera.

Helped him launch, fuel and ice his father in laws boat down at cypress cove marina years ago. We talked fishing and LSU Football. Good guy.

He is also a big strong MF. He could grab two 50lb bags of ice in one hand and flip it over his shoulder easily.

She is actually from Bogalusa - she was working in New Orleans when they met. I went to high school with his late FIL.

I met him at Louis CK's first free secret show here in New Orleans last year. He was there with Stephen Root and Bryan Cranston and they were all really nice.

ETA: now that I think about it, it may have been 2 years ago. It was during the filming of Trumbo

I saw him 2 weeks ago on Magazine in front of La Petite. Traffic was stalled both ways and he was stuck directly next to me. I almost asked him to take a selfie with me but left him alone.

I was friends with his wife and went to his wedding. Talked to him a little at their announcement party. Pretty down to earth but he was pretty hammered. Was fishing in the lake by his house in Bogalusa a few years later. He walked down to the pier and asked if we were catching anything and offered us a beer.

He has a lot of property in the area. Not sure if he flips or rents but he seems to own a lot of houses in the area. Garden lane and another off of Jefferson uptown for sure,
