That’s the Honey Island Swamp Monster which is different than the Rougarou.
People get them mixed up all the time. The Rougarou (loup-garou) is a werewolf. Which means that he transforms into a wolf/dog.
The Honey Island Swamp Monster is more like Bigfoot and is always the “monster.”

Yes. The Rougarou is real. In the early 1990's me and a few friends went to a Sunday Saints game. We spent the evening celebrating the Saints victory and left the French Quarter around 10pm. While driving to drop a friend off we saw the Rougarou running down Barataria Boulevard in front of Hope Haven. We attempted to follow him but he ran into the woods behind Shaw High School and we lost him. This is a true story.
