Has anyone here ever collected from Crimestoppers?

I know one of their “most wanted” suspects but I’m trying to get specifics and the detective has been very vague with his answers. They say the reward is “up to $5000” but I’m not ratting the guy out unless I can make a decent profit. How do they determine how much you’ll get?

I think they price people based on the circumstances. Higher priority crimes with fewer leads probably pay more than lower priority crimes with strong leads already being worked on.

You only get the money if your tip leads directly to the arrest & charge of a suspect
It’s worded some kind of wat so that they don’t actually have to pay you

I would think the last thing law enforcement wants to do is lie to their loyal communal public who want to help.
Then again, I guess maybe I am not. If I call in a tip -- like suppose I called in and told them to check out Derrick Todd Lee -- they best pay me.

He said he needs an address, and that's what I can give him. Can't be more direct than that.
I will say that the other night he was having an allergic reaction and had to be hospitalized overnight to be monitored. I told the detective this info and the name of the hospital and his response was, "We won't apprehend him while he's hospitalized." I was like, damn, you must really want to snag him

So if you tip them about someone who killed someone and they get Trudy White as a judge and she decides that making them go mow a few people's yards as punishment instead of sentencing them to jail... You will not get paid?

They contact police
You call back, they tell you if police confirmed tip was useful or not
If so, they send you to a specific bank to pick up cash

Yeah he gave me a 4-digit code at the beginning of the process. Said he couldn't do anything until I gave him an address.

Idk why they wouldn’t arrest him at the hospital, they could been waiting for him once he was discharged

I got one from school when I was in high school. It was like $250. We had a sub and this guy decided to spark up a joint under the table. I don't care if people smoke but he was a dick and someone was gonna turn him in so I figured why not cash in.
