For active COVID-19 infection? Negative. The active infection swab comes back in two days, the blood test used for antibody testing comes back in two weeks.

The study has a few different functions. They started out testing just healthcare workers in the area through the three major medical networks here in Louisville (UofL, Nortons, and Bapist). They wanted to identify, en masse, those with active infections (hence the swab) and identify a large pool of people who would be eligible to donate plasma to active patients.

From the initial proposal:

expand testing of COVID-19 in area hospital workers and enable administrators to promptly institute
isolation recommendations. It will also establish a critical blood bank that could be deployed to assist
recovery of COVID-19 patients. More importantly, the identification of past infection and the
documentation of an adequate immune response would enable health care worker to remain in the
workforce with lower risk of infection.

They've now expanded it into Phase 2 where they're testing residents across Jefferson County and they'll move out from there.
