They prefer the term "journalism of color".

Like others said, you have to consume more than one source to get your news. Here's the truth... every person as a bias and journalist are no exception. However, a good journalists won't let that bias affect their work.

Few tips...
Network news (ABC, NBC, & CBS) will be more moderate and have more actual news than the big three cable news channels (Fox, CNN, & MSNBC). The 24 hour news channels have too much time to fill and it gets filled with opinion. Despite what many here will tell you, CNN is the more 'centered' of those three, but it's obvious most of their hosts are left of center. Even then it depends on which show you watch. For example, Don Lemon is going to give more slanted opinion than Jake Tapper. Tapper was hated by fans of Obama and now he's hated by many Trump fans. When both sides want to fight you, then you might be doing it right. The polar opposites like Rachel Maddown and Hannity are there to cheer for their side and while they may present facts, they are cherry picking those facts to fit their own narrative while ignoring relevant information. In other words, cable 'news' should be used for entertainment.

If you are reading the news... AP, Reuters, and bloomberg are about as middle of the road as you'll find.

The new yorker gets criticized for leaning left and that's got some truth to it. However, the new yorker is notorious for their fact checking. Many of people use their articles and research to back up their own b/c they have high standards of proof. Some on the right will point out the Kavanaugh accuser article they put out. But go read that article and notice they laid out all the facts of their investigation. They could have removed several paragraphs to make kavanaugh to look worse and they didn't. They went out of their way to lay out the stories of the people that disputed the accuser's story to be fair to kavanaugh. I listened to an interview of Ronan Farrow. He stated he believed the accuser yet he felt it was his journalistic responsibility to report everything they found in the investigation. he did a good job of that and I respect him more b/c most people would have edited out the portions that didn't fit their belief.

All networks you mentioned are extremely biased, the regular networks just as bad as the cable ones.

Go watch actual press conference, interviews, and then see what is reported and written...none of them report the whole story

YouTube is your friend, find the actual full statements

When it comes to US news coverage, yes. Al Jazeera won't be saying anything bad about the Qatari government though.
