I'm more worried about getting in trouble at my "home" airport than leaving California.

FYI At the ATL airport, they do a very extensive search of most golf bags.

They search/scan bags when you leave, not when you arrive, as far as I know.

I'm aware, but if there was a dog by baggage claim or whatever I'd have a federal drug charge. If they find it in In the legal states they're probably just going to throw it away.

Lots of ignorance in here. Edibles are easy to hide just mix with candy and remove from original packaging. TSA as well as airport dogs are not looking for drugs, only explosives. The only drug dog you may encounter in through customs but not in domestic terminals. Know your airports and google it. In Vegas they have boxes to dispose of drugs prior to flying but I had mine in my carry on and never thought twice about it. If you check your bag it is more likely to get searched and travel near a drug dog than your carry on will. Keep liquids away from you carry on so they don’t search you bag in security. Flower is harder to carry but edibles and even pens aren’t too hard.

I asked a cop and tsa agent about and they said as long as you’re not acting stupid or posing a threat nobody in an airport cares if you have a little weed. Doesn’t matter the state. It’s decriminalized in so many cities now that cops don’t want the paperwork just because it’s federal jurisdiction in the airport. Flying out of a legal state they would either throw it away or look away. Landing in a non legal state they don’t search bags in domestic terminals anyway so you’re fine. I’ve had dogs walk right past me in baggage claim. They can’t detect edibles but they also aren’t sniffing for weed. Buy a scent proof bag if you’re paranoid. I always go to candy store and buy gummies then mix my weed gummies in there.

good to know....although in this case, they'd have to go in the bag, and then about 2 more layers. They'd have had to open every little toiletry box I had in my toiletry bag. Even then it couldn't really be smelled because of the type of bag it's in.

If they went through all that work for a couple nuggets of weed, more power to them.

Y’all are some dumb mofos. Not sure why you would risk getting popped for a serious offense in an airport for some some pot brownies or whatever else you’re smuggling.

A- I've done it a number of times without issue.
B-it's not a serious offense.

you should look more into this subject. TSA does not give a frick.

When we got to the place to drop off our clubs (there is a special area you have to drop off golf clubs), they had one bag open on their table with everything pulled out.

When I got home, I saw that they searched the frick out of mine. Every club was in a different slot, shite was in the wrong pockets, took the rolled up socks out of my shoes.

Just a word of caution. Luckily I know people in ATL, so I wasn't travelling with anything.

Vacuum pack it. Throw in some coffee and Vaseline to mask the smell. Boom, frick that dog.

Denver airport TSA is aware of this and has the sniffer dogs to bust you.

Is this fact or a guess on your part because you were once in the CO airport and saw the dogs and therefore, assumed they were sniffing out for MJ?

For the record, they are not sniffing for weed, they are sniffing for firearms, bombs.

Airport dogs are trained to sniff for types of explosives. Drug dogs sniff lockers in school or trailer parks looking for meth. They typically don’t train them to smell everything illegal and say go get him Sparky. Some international airports will use drug dogs to sniff for narcotics to stop large trafficking operations. But the baggage claim in New Orleans isn’t bringing drug dogs in. It’s not in the budget to keep all these dogs around. Go ask the cop next time you see a dog and he will tell you. I talked to the cop with the dog once with edibles in my pocket and nobody busted me.

It’s all going to be legal soon and law enforcement really doesn’t care.

Yep. Wife had some edibles in her bag coming back from Denver. They search you at the boarding airport, not the destination. Who gives a damn if they find it on you in Denver? They are going to search you getting off the plane.

Didn't read all the comments so you've probably got all the answers you need. Flown out of both LAX and DIA with flowers, edibles, etc. Both carry on and checked bags. I prefer checking my bags when I have stuff. A few things to keep in mind. TSA is looking for weapons, not weed. in DIA, they immediately turn it over to the police who will generally either make you throw it away or pay a $150 fine and throw it away. Depends on how much you bring. These people have a lot bigger fish to fry than a pot consuming 20-something. Don't try and hide it. If they see it, be honest. I usually put my weed in with my actual medications.

flew back from Denver with bud and edibles in my carry on. They didn't say or do anything as it went through the scanner.

I did a lot of "researching" beforehand and basically got most of the same info people are giving here. The TSA doesn't care. They have an official statement stating they aren't looking for it. If they find it they are going to ask you to throw it out and that's about it.

If they find it in a checked bag I'm sure they leave you one of those "we were here" tags and keep it for themselves...

I wouldn't have any hesitations flying out of Denver with a little weed again.

Just yesterday from Colorado. Been doing this monthly for over a year. I don’t fly with flower, but never an issue with the edibles.
