The closest thing I have to hemorrhoids are a few family members who are Democrats. Not exactly hemorrhoids but a pain the arse.

I’m no medical person but it amazes me that anything could heal in that environment.

Worst procedure I ever had. I so feel for you.

They say the recovery from that shite (no pun intended) is excruciating.
Can confirm.
Also, to shite during that recovery is excruciating.

I am 61 years old and had this done in 2020.
I was tender and it was a tough 5-7 days immediately after, but it was definitely worth it in the long run. Before my procedure, I was bleeding profusely with every BM, and I had a constant mucus discharge for 2-4 hours after a BM.
3 1/2 years later...I have had only two flareups with a small amount of bleeding during a BM and no more discharge, etc.
Take it easy after and do exactly what your surgeon tells you to do. Good luck!

30 mins later on the ride home, I had the most epic fart of all time... probably 10-12 seconds of the most guttural/violent fart known to man
The place I went had a recovery room with ten or so beds behind curtains. My wife was with me cracking up the entire time. In my drug addled state, I was apparently afraid I was going to poop myself. I told the nurse, "I more of a stall man," so they let me go to a restroom. Made the walls shake.

I've got a feeling that you will be a regular.

The good thing you will be out when they do it. Try having one done on your lunch break and being "exposed" to the whole doctors office. Afternoon pain meds did help but it is a pain in the arse!

Sounds like if someone has an issue that only flares up sporadically and can mostly be controlled by topical then maybe not worth it? Or do these things typically just get worse?

Mine used a drimmel tool same procedure. I was up and running next day.

Yes it is basically used as last resort

Same. Feel like it would have filled a small styrofoam coffee cup each time.
Blood count got so low I was barely ambulatory.

I have a colonoscopy tomorrow morning. Started my clear liquid prep today. I'm fricking starving already and have 16 hours left to go.
I start taking the first bottle of prep at 6:00 pm today. Things will really get popping after that.
So, you're not alone, OP.

I have and it was fricking awful. If you aren’t the kind that prays, the first time you take a shite, you are gonna find religion.

Ah, nothing has ever made me laugh like the recovery room on colonoscopy day. The air they fill you with must come back out.
When I woke up, a nurse came running to check on me and asked me if I needed anything. Without thinking, I said "Pull my finger" and couldn't stop laughing for several minutes. That room is like the Blazing Saddles campfire scene.

Absolute instant relief. I was in serious pain.
What in the hell causes them to get so bad?
Look up "thrombosed hemorrhoid" on Google. I developed one due to riding a bicycle excessively for exercise (in combination with being on a keto diet, which aggravated my hemorrhoids). It's basically an inflamed external hemorrhoid that won't go back inside. Painful as hell, but when my Doctor lanced it, the pain went away.
