I go to the grandparents' house every year. As soon as get there, I have to shake hands with all the smokers out on the front porch. After that, I get introduced to the current men my whore aunts are sleeping with during that 6 month cycle. It's a very classy occasion.

Good lord your life and you in general must suck.

Bruh....People all over the south feel that way. Unfortunately the level of lowlife and ignorance rings loud down here. Family can be quite fricking embarrassing and clueless.

Thinking about cutting ties with the in-laws. They completely ruined our first Christmas with our daughter.

Yes..."extended" family is highly overrated, especially inlaws.

no, but I know how you feel....I have a-hole neighbors
and family is so far away...they're no problem at all.
just move without a post office notice
ignore any messages or emails
they'll figure it out
good luck

I bet that will go over well with the wife.

My cousins on my dad's side can all frick off and die for all I care. They are the quintessential white trash.
The rest of my family is awesome. My wife's side is awesome except for one substance abusing uncle. He too can frick off.
All in all, we keep close those we love and ignore the ones we don't.

Man I couldn't imagine not talking to my family.

Just told my parents that when they die I'll finally get to be an only child.
So looking forward to this (not their deaths mind y'all)
I will be happy when I don't have to deal with the dysfunction.

Great job, im sure your old parents love hearing how their children don't get along with the reminder that when they die the family they created will be ruined.
Great brag.

Pretty much. Haven't talked to my sister in about 8 years. Talk to my brother about once every three or four years. Haven't talked to my dad in a while, and am fairly certain I will never see or talk to him again. Only one I talk to with any regularity is my mother, and we talk about every other month or so. Even that relationship is strained now. I got a card from her in the mail Thursday, I know there's a check in it. I'll probably end up writing "return to sender" and throwing it in the mail tomorrow.

Some parts of it, yes.
Sometimes it's best for all concerned if someone just walks away and doesn't look back.
It's not easy, and fun wouldn't be a word I'd use to describe it, but necessary. Necessary would be a word I'd use.

I couldn't imagine my kids getting married and never wanting to talk to me again.

Parents shouldn't be shielded from the truth and the outcomes of their shitty parenting

In all honesty, there's plenty of blame to go around, some on them, and really some on everyone.

That kind of selfish thinking is why you're in this thread.
