As a single father I hated not having the ability to use corporal punishment. Each time I did caused WWIII to the point it wasn’t worth it. Kids learned real quick how to manipulate their psycho mom in their favor

Got my arse paddled growing up but certainly deserved it. At my house we keep a paint stick for a 5 gallon bucket as a paddle rarely used but always around.

I’ll never be comfortable hitting my kids and no amount of old people Facebook memes will change that.

They never had to worry about those teachers that did it for not doing homework in junior high, or the assistant principal there that roamed the halls looking for kids that got sent out of class. Football coaches used to give licks if you had a bad grade. You never missed a game, but they try to motivate you with a board. I never got suspended for anything, but got whipped at school a bunch in junior high.

Get a stubborn dog that you have to hit. It will help you rationalize striking your children.

Lack of spanking is the problem. There are ZERO consequences for actions now.

Spankings are a business transaction at our house. Some rules are automatic spankings. Examples: Disrespectful to Mom- 3 licks. Starting a fight or hitting a sibling- 3 licks.

Those are the rules. Break them and pay the price. No hard feelings, no anger, no emotion involved.

I only whip Jaxxon for errors and striking out. He curses adults out, but I find it funny and let him do it. Some boomer even called the cops on Jaxxon the other day because he caught his yard on fire, lol!

Frick people that don’t spank their damn kids. Y’all are the same people that wonder why kids are shooting up schools, and then blame it on guns. I’m not saying you need to put a cig out on Lil Jimmy’s shoulder, but they have to learn there are consequences for doing shite. Some are worse then others.

Lol my mom recited this many times after giving me a “whooping” . I never did drugs or went to jail because of how I came up. I will attempt to bring my children up the same way. People relate beating and whipping but they are two very different things. This coming from someone who would get a whipping at least every other day. Lol

Im a 90s kid, but definitely grew up in a household that believed in spankings. In general, I was a good kid. My parents threatened a whooping and that was usually more than enough to get my act right. So truth be told I received maybe a max of 4 whoopings my entire life.

On the other end, i went to an elementary school that still allowed paddling. I think I got paddled at school about a max of 3 times total throughout all of k-5.
Even then one of those paddling was in 3rd grade when we had a substitute teacher. Class was acting up of course completely running over the substitute. I did my work quietly, completely ignoring class minding my business. Principal walked by, got pissed at us, and proceeded to take every single one of our class into the hallway and tore our arse the frick up with her paddle. I was so pissed.

It's probably bad and incredibly stupid that I remember that scene so vividly. But yes, Im still mad about being paddled in 3rd grade.

Spanking can be part of the discipline process IF used appropriately. It should be rare and not done in anger.

I got whipped a good bit. At some point, I just did why I wanted and hoped I did not get caught. The whippings hurt, but only for a little while.

I made my kids cry more by withdrawing privileges or requiring work. I did pop their behinds IF they needed it, but rarely.

Whipping only works to modify “line of sight” behaviors. I wanted them to do the right thing whether I was within arms reach or not.

Never got them at home after 2nd grade and running into front yard around oak trees with mom behind me wielding a belt. Instead of hot pursuit, she quietly said, "Your dad will be home from work soon." Dad got home and I was either an angel or not caught fricking up.

The big difference is that it was strictly enforced at school. Principal had a jockey whip if paddle was good enough. Truth be known, in junior high we had a choice of paddle or staying after school. Everyone except those eventually turned out to be gay boys chose the paddle so they didn't have to explain to parents later.

I think it depends on the kid really. Some kids respond better to losing things, some to spankings, some to disappointment. Every kid is different, it’s up to the parents to figure it out.

No, but they suffered by not being allowed to roam free outside for hours on end alone, get broken bones and scuffed knees, and resolve fights by themselves.

My parents had a whipping boy for when I screwed up, which was a lot.
