The problem with that is that structures are built to handle wind hitting their outside. Once you put a big hole in the building envelope and the wind can get in, in can start working from the inside out to break and weaken the structure.

Those reports of the school being gone are surely exaggerated. I can't see a building like that just being completely blown away, not when the snowball stand up the street is still there. I could see horrible damage and sections of roof blowing off but to say it is "gone?" Hopefully just over the top reportings that happen at first in these types of situations.
