The spaghetti models, Euro, and GFS are all in agreement that this will be an issue in western LA, at a minimum.

See how that dark area/band in the NE quadrant seems to be moving away? Is there any chance that the ridge to the NW or wind shear to the north and NW might help break this system down once it gets on land and begins to weaken?

Has Peej weighed in recently with any prediction, and if so, can you direct me to the page? I need to make some decisions.

I'm not excited for this storm to hit anyone, but I am excited to see the battle between the two ridges
Yeah, I find severe weather to be an incredible thing to view and study, but I hate when it impacts folks. Give me this same setup in the middle of the Atlantic instead.

Latest dropsonde dropped in #Harvey's eye measured 949mb pressure with 10 kt wind, so possibly 948mb. 2-3mb lower than 2 hours ago.

It won't hit the US. Only Mexico

Only good news is he thinks this will be bad now.
Him completely whiffing on a prediction 7 days out was a stone cold lock.

Why do you people continue to give him so much attention. It's useless, the whole meme of his predictions has jumped the shark. There are some tropes here that we need to move on from...
No offense, but these threads always go well until some OG OTer comes in and brings up a joke or something that only him and the few other older members left think are funny.

He has been hammered for saying it was going to Mexico so he hasn't posted much.

I mean, he made a projection based on models seven days out. Of course he wiffed.
Yawn.
Unfortunately looks like Harvey has really gotten his act together overnight.

the only relief is that the storm surge is usually the last domino to fall when a hurricane is strengthening.. so the surge may be below normal for a hurricane of its intensity
Yep. Texas A&M Corpus Christi is literally on an island in Corpus. Hopefully it is spared.

That means Harvey is having an eyewall replacement cycle.

PJ talk is fine early, but it doesn't have a place anymore in the thread.

Eyewall replacement has happened.
Basically the inner eye wall starts to want and gets choked out by the outer. Once the outer is the stronger of the two, it will start to shrink in a little and be the main eyewall while the original one goes away.
Common in stronger hurricanes.

Things getting wet and wild in downtown Houston already
Bruh, George and Stout said that Houston floods all the time and it drains like a bathtub. Once the water hits the ground it evaporates immediately. There will be no problems in Houston as long as the power stays on.
BTW, those are their words not mine. George used to live in the loop for like 3 years so I'm not going to question him.
