Watch that outflow expand toward Texas. He's breathing well.

The conditions look strong for development. I'm worried things will look scary by late tonight.

I think you could be right, but you still see influence from the drier air to the SW. That helps create that gap in moisture to the south, which in turn gets wrapped up on the east side of the storm.

The outflow to the other three quadrants is pretty impressive.

Just wanted to say to the elderly woman on the water aisle of whom i beat mercilessly with a bag of bagels until she released the last 12 pack in the store. I am sorry, i really am. But you knew the stakes and rules before you entered Kroger. #HarvApocalypse2017

It looks pretty blocked out from the WV map you posted, but I do see what you're talking about. I just don't think it will be much of a problem with the organization looking pretty good and the bank of heat energy to utilize. Slack, I hope I'm wrong.

The NHC isn't really one to overhype a particular threat, but unfortunately the high end potential with Harvey is definitely there.

From a Hugo survivor, this looks eerily similar. I was stationed in Charleston, man was it bad. Just like this one, it came ashore in the middle of the night.

I wouldn't wanna do that again, ever.

You Guy's keep your heads down, and good luck.

the image Duke showed has those high level cirrus pushouts getting strong across most of the storm. kicking out the dry air before it hits that eddy will provide high chance for large strengthening.

Even the SST inside the eddy and shore are pretty high.

Depth of the 26 C (warm enough to support tropical storm) isotherm. Goes down a good 75-100 m.

Tropical cycle heat potential. Basically, how much energy is available for Harvey to tap.
