I don't think the was this way till Charles was unfaithful, but it's hard to tell.

Royalty has taken ownership/control over enough money and assets over the years that Outside of possibility of paying for own security I doubt they will be bothered much by "being cut off".

She was an exceedingly shy and quiet teenager when they were dating and engaged. She had just turned 20 one month before they married. Charles was 32. She worked as a nanny and kindergarten teacher before marriage.

Charles never loved her and was never faithful. He was having an affair with the then married Camilla ( who was married to a good friend of charles). Diana did love him at first but a person can only take so much cheating and isolation before they look elsewhere for love and understanding.

The odd part is that affairs are accepted in the upper class. A married lover is preferred because will be more discreet and understanding. Once a couple marries and does their duty to produce heirs, it is acceptable for them to quietly have someone on the side.

Camillas husband knew about charles and camilla. He still remained great friends with charles and often had charles spending weekends with them.

Its really kinda effed up how they have rules for their affairs and if you abide by the rules, you wont be judged or exposed.
