I’m pretty sure people were against the original construction of the hard rock because it called for tearing down historical buildings. Well look where we are now

One of the larger builders in the 80's did this and now owns a whole block instead of just parts of it. History does repeat if you pay attention.

Off subject but why can't the city do something with the State Palace Theater

Think renovations started the last couple weeks.

Since the collapse I don't drive that way a whole lot.

Do they own the property?

Yes, so let them knock it down if they want.

After this entire fiasco does anyone believe the city will ever five these developers another construction permit??? Highly doubtful.
Any attempts to profit from this won’t be from Kalais. They are toast..

They should've just knocked them down and seen if anyone even noticed.

Wouldn't be many people looking up from their iphone to see the knockdowns.

Never let a (self-created) crisis go to waste when you can use it to manipulate the system to your personal gain.

There's concern the developers will benefit from knocking down the buildings, since it would leave vacant space to be sold or redeveloped to pay for the piling costs of the collapse,

This sums up what always has been, is, and always will be wrong with Louisiana.

Let Mohan tear them down and then when all is cleared SEIZE the property for the monetary losses that continue for the city. Then set up a huge city owned parking garage. Win win.

Any chance the Superdome is one of them?
And throw in City Hall but please do it during business hours without prior notice.

Something stinks about this whole deal.

Probably the two decomposing bodies that has been in there for two months.
It’s been so long it may be past that stage.

One day, I'm going to have to do my research to figure out how this guy went from owning a few seedy T-shirt shops on Bourbon to owning 3/4's of Orleans Parish.

It wouldn't really surprise me to find out his minority owner of the Saints and the airport too. (being sarcastic, but he's in every damn article about New Orleans properties.)

Id be fine if the city got control of that lot, and the adjoining ones, and turned it into a transit center.

You mean murder center?

The current transfer station there on Canal is the site of lots of TPOS business

By station you mean sidewalks?

Agree it makes that area shite. Would rather it be two stories and concentrated than stretched across 8 blocks.

Another ideal spot could be taking the park between the library and city hall.

Maybe so. I just remember the building was basically falling down already and was almost unsalvageable. Seemed all the ire was the height and Kalais.

Seems like the ire was pretty well-directed.

I would be okay with volunteering all my free time in the renovation or demolition of said building.

I think I could recover enough party favors to OD the entire city.

Or, in lieu of shafting the city for all they owe the property is given as payment.

Crazy, I don't think the city should be stuck holding the bill for a citizens frickup...poor or rich.
