Snapping turtle soup seems like a good way to celebrate.

I love seeing turtles in my yard. In the past couple of months I have seen box turtles 7 times, 2 mud turtles that were together. There was a "green back" turtle on our front porch and I saw a snapping turtle.
Over the years, I have twice seen box turtles mating. I have seen 6 turtles digging holes to lay eggs, but only once did I confirm eggs were laid and hatched. This one successful hatching happened next to my A/C unit. I happened to walk around the house and saw the turtle as she had just finished covering up the eggs.
I think all my other sightings scared off the turtles and they went somewhere else.
In my small drainage ditch, I often see turtles there.
A few day ago, after seeing a box turtle, I told my wife it looked very similar to one I saw a few weeks ago. Then I thought maybe I should start writing a number on their shell to identify them.
While out hunting, I will see a box turtle every couple of years.
My wife has bought 2 turtle "statues" that are in the front flower bed..... "Speedy and Swifty".

My oldest kid loves turtles. We've got 3 in our house. He wasn't amused when I told him we should celebrate the day with a bowl of turtle soup.
