Happy Groundhog Day! The holiday of the Gods. Update with this year's groundhog!

Update: I give to you, the Blind Ref groundhog of 2019. Couple things to note. First notice the bell pepper flag firmly affixed to his hip. Secondly, the ref shirt is made of string cheese and BBQ sauce as edible black foods are hard to find and not present in your house! This ref is now memorialized forever in the annals of groundhog day.
Enjoy!

I know you all eagerly await this thread every year to see what I've come up with.
Every family has those little strange family traditions. Well, today is the day we celebrate ours.
Ever since I was a kid, we would celebrate groundhog day over dinner with a groundhog shaped meatloaf.
It is a tradition that I have since carried into adulthood. It is a tradition I hope to pass on to my son.
This tradition has quickly turned this holiday into one of my wife's favorites to celebrate. She even marks it on our kitchen calendar as "Holiday of the Gods!"
Here are the last few years groundhogs:
The ground hog of 2014 fell Superbowl Sunday, so we had a Manning themed meatloaf.
The groundhog of 2015 was a pirate. Please notice the meat hook hand and peg leg.
The 2016 groundhog was Mardi gras themed. Notice the groundhog boobies, beads, and hand grenade.
In 2017, my wife was pregnant so the loaf became a baby. Please note the mushroom umbilical stub, pepperoni diaper rash, and bell pepper rattle.
Here is the mummy-hog of 2018. I don't quite remember what the ketchup was supposed to be
As always, I will update this thread this evening after tonight's groundhog. I haven't decided on a theme yet, so feel free to bounce some ideas around.
Happy Groundhog Day Everyone!
Enjoy!

Cool tradition! I think it is awesome for families to have their own traditions. Cool you are passing to your son. Those types of things create rich memories long after you are gone.

To hear the old tales of it's origin. Mary Todd made the first groundhog for ole Abe on the in 1863.

I’ll just refer to you as “Dingo” from here on out cause it was you that ate the baby.
However I do heartily approve of this epicurean endeavor.
Keep up the goood work!

The mummy hog actually turned out pretty bad. I tried smoking it and the bacon charred.

I love the tradition that you have with your family, but I just can't follow you down the meatloaf path...
The only thing my mom would cook growing up was meatloaf... is seriously can't do it anymore.. i had more meatloaf than a kid should eat in 1000 lifetimes
and I never got eat a brusselsprout until I went to college

That's the weirdest tradition I've ever heard of.
.....I kind of love it.

Just keep Bill DeBlasio away from your groundhog. He dropped one at a ceremony a few years back and it died from internal injuries which they tried to cover up.
