“In The Ghetto” and “Kentucky Rain” are just plain powerful songs… the guy I was a legends legend… the amount of people STILL imitating him 45 years after his death is astonishing. There was or never will be anything like him…

No question that would be Lennon.

When it comes to the greatest non-opera singers Aretha, Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, Elvis, Sam Cook, and Lennon are the front runners maybe adding Roy Orbison.


Someone mentioned Plant as being overrated, outside of maybe Bono and Mercury nobody was a better frontman lead singer he had a true 4-octave range and a level of control few others could come close to matching.

I used to be pretty good friends with James Burton,, haven't seen him in a few years but he was showing signs of developing dementia the last year or so I was around him
