And from Fort Payne, Alabama ... Merry Christmas tonight!

This won't be popular, but that stretch of albums from 1980 to 1983 are about as good as polished country music can possibly be. But after that, with Roll On, I disliked everything put out by them forever and ever after.

I've been fortunate enough to meet Randy and his family several times.
truly good and classy people all the way around.
they would host a huge cattle sale at their ranch every year for Memorial Day weekend.
his was was absolutely amazing at conversing with the crowd.
would be hundreds of people there. many she would only ever see that weekend each year.
but she was able to hold conversations about each and every person's personal life. where they worked, went to school, etc.
and the following year ask about those specifically to each person.
his son played baseball at Samford (if I remember right)

I've met him a few times through a friend/former coworker who is a cousin of his. The first time I met him we were just riding around out that way and he said, "You wanna go meet Randy?" I said, "Randy Owen?". He said yes and we rode over to his place. Ended up spending a couple hours just talking and showing us (me mainly) around his property. He seems like good people from the few times I've spoken with him.

Seen Alabama play at a 4th of July event in Natchez couple years ago, they were fantastic!
Grew up listening to them on the radio and used their song “There’s No Way” for my wedding song.

I take your point but sharecropping and cotton were nothing more than jobs that most often failed to provide the financial support needed to make ends meet and many people across the south are still struggling with jobs that do not pay enough to support them and their families. There is also a fairly strong need amongst many in the south to have a politician step in and make their world great again....I'd posit that the sentiment is pretty well established in the south in 2024....and the rest of the US. As much as its pretended on these boards that eerybody is a baller and anyone who ain't is a loser the fact is that there are still an awful lot of people in the south and the rest of the country who aren't gettin' rich......

But Mr. Roosevelt's a-gonna save us all
Except he didn’t, all he did was bloat the already bloated federal government and increase everyone’s dependency on it. Kept poor people poor.

This is a thread about a musician’s impending birthday, not a Poli Board rant.
Lighten up Francis.

Their debut album cover was an enormous Rebel flag... different times indeed!
