Funny that he’s not ranked higher “all time” with the sheer number of hits.

That's because the Nashville country music establishment hates him.

My wife (no pics) loves George Strait. Saw him in New Orleans. He was really good.

Hot take, but his music took a precipitous fall once he recorded Love Bug. I typically refer to his catalog as pre-LB and post LB. He's had a couple of good songs since then, but most are just average. His 80s stuff is untouchable though.

I’m waiting for the first poster to come in this thread and either say “who?” or to completely shite on him because he’s not as good as the obscure music they listen to that no one’s ever heard of…

not shitting on him, I know he’s big in his genre but I’d have to think about it, and guess, to name one of his songs, just not into country

Watch his late 80’s special “A Black and White Night” with Springsteen, James Burton, Bonnie Rait, Jackson Browne, T Bone Burnett, k.d. Lang, Elvis Costello and others. It’s a classic, the tightest band you’ll ever see, you won’t be disappointed.

I've seen it a couple times already when it airs on PBS here in N.O. Great special with some of the best musicians of that day on stage with him.

The man led a tragic life that would have crushed the creativity out of a lesser man.

Love George Strait. But there’s only one King George in country music and that would be George Jones

I like George Jones but he isn’t on the same planet as George Strait and I wouldn’t call myself a big Strait fan. If someone thinks otherwise they are either ignorant to the facts or just blind.

You missed a golden opportunity to use the actual line from the song. “He’d be the first to tell you Bob Wills is still the king.”
But that was what Willie Nelson would say.

George Jones is the king of old country. George strait is the king if so called new
Country. He has a great library of awesome tunes but his live shows to me would be a snooze fest.
