Let's say you don't smoke very often and you got high yesterday. That would not show up on a piss test today.
The people who smoke regularly would fail regardless what day it was given.

I was always under the impression that even for an occasional smoker, the "hot" window was generally 2-4 days since the last toke.

They do random testing here like every 4 or 6 weeks. I have no idea how or why, but my name has not come up for testing in over 20 years though.

Depends on the sensitivity of the test but you can piss hot for a week or so. Weird thing is sometimes the UDS can give a false negative with same day use. If you smoked yesterday and you take a piss test today you're going to fail, even if you were clean before smoking.
We really only tested for booze, benzos, amphetamine, and opioids.

it goes in cycles, in the beginning, never got called
after a few years , they got me in the loop, whenever the lady showed, I was on the list

The really odd things is I know people here who get hit 2 or 3 times a year, year in and year out. Guess they came back dirty once and now they're on the radar. I do know that on the first failed drug test they don't fire you but instead make you go into treatment. Second time though and they're out.

there are reasons...like after I switched from regular route driver to working the doc, I was always called
I was one less driver they'd have to pull and replace with somebody who didn't know the area...a no brainer
