I was always under the impression that even for an occasional smoker, the "hot" window was generally 2-4 days since the last toke.
Not sure about the tests now days but I passed a blood test and urinalysis test within the same 24 hour period of smoking joint in early 2000s.
Blood test was done under state patrol supervision at the hospital and the urine was an independent lab about 1.5 hours later.
For the record I was not regular smoker. That joint was probably my first one in 8-12 months.

You probably would have failed if they had waited any longer to test you.
It wasn't out of your system, you just got lucky.

Friend of mine went a few years without being called in for a random. Then he got called in 5 times in two years. He's never smoked.

Depends on your definition of lucky. I was still presented with the choice of going to company paid re-hab for 28 days or resign. I resigned.
This was following a wreck hence the state patrol involvement. I told my manager so they could be prepared in the event of litigation; hence the independent lab.
Like I said I ended up passing both but because I admitted it to my manager, had to go to re-hab if I wanted to keep my job.
