Worked at Cucos and would regularly go across street to Sal's to spend most of my tip earnings.

What, no pics of Forsythe Park and the swimming pool?

What about the Twin City Queen?

Growing up in the early 70s we used to go visit my cousins in “the big city” during the summer, and then they’d come over and spend some time out in the country near Pointe Aux Pins.

Anyway, they lived on K Street not far from the park. Sometimes we’d ride our bikes down to Bayou DeSiard, climb into the cypress trees and dive into the bayou.

Or go digging for returnable bottles, get money for them at the 7-11, then head over to Dunkin’ Donuts. My favorite was the strawberry frosted ones.

Good times…………

Damn, you pretty much covered it. About the only things missing, is Electric Circus and the byob clubs on 165N and DeSiard by the college.

Also, don’t remember if it was every Thursday or Friday, but you had to get to Straughter’s early if you didn’t want to miss out on the barbecue goat!

OMG. I spent enough in Tonga Island to have owned it. Best Polynesian drinks anywhere except Bali Hai at Ponchartrain Beach. So nice and cool in there in summertime. Like my own special little cavelike hideout.

Ray's Pe Ge. Seale-Lily Johnny's Pizza
Layton Castle with the Ginko trees. Swimming in Bayou DeSiard.

Good times.

Glen grew up down the street from me. We used to hang out at his house all the time.

I’m a bit younger, but I’ll never forget Freddy the Forecaster and What’s Cookin’ with Stacy Thornton on KNOE.

Damn. 4 pages to get to the Mirage! Lol. I can remember my buddies buying whit Russians for the strippers so they would sit with them. Like they had a shot. Lol

Who remembers the Shalamar strip club? It was off Louisville close to Sears. That ways were the biker chicks stripped. Nothing to seeing all kinds of belly scars and missing teeth on those chicks. Wow.

As a kid I can remember the candy counter in the middle of Sears. I can remember hovering around that place the entire time my mom was in there shopping then being a little shite if we didn’t get some candy when we left.

And the Stuckeys I remember so well was the one close to Minden. My aunt lived in Minden and my grandparents lived in Ringgold. I would cry in the backseat “Let’s stop at STUCKEYS!” From the first billboard we saw until a mile or so past the exit. Lol.

Good stuff!!
